The clearance, or gap, of the valves on a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally is the distance between the valve and the valve seat when the valve is in the closed position. The clearance is typically specified by the manufacturer and is measured in thousandths of an inch.
To determine the valve clearance for your Lancer OZ Rally, you will need to refer to the manufacturer's specifications or service manual for your specific model. The valve clearance may vary depending on the type of engine and the specific application of the vehicle.
It is important to maintain the correct valve clearance on your Lancer OZ Rally to ensure that the engine operates efficiently and effectively. If the valve clearance is not within the specified range, it may cause problems such as reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption, and increased emissions.
To adjust the valve clearance, you will need to remove the valve cover and use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the valve and the valve seat. If the gap is not within the specified range, you will need to use a wrench to adjust the clearance by turning the adjustment screw on the rocker's arm. It is recommended that you have the valve clearance adjusted by a qualified mechanic if you are not familiar with this process.
there does not need to be marks on a harmonic balancer to adjust valves
when a piston is on tdc the valves will be either completely closed or in the valve rock position
when adjusting valve clearence you will need to know the firing order because when no 1 piston is ready to fire , then the next piston to fire will be in the valve rock position
for example if no1 piston of a 6 cylinder ( firing order 153642) is at tdc firing both valves will be closed and so the valves of no5 piston will be rocking so that will be the nect piston valves to adjust and after that no3 piston valves will rock so you do no 5 valves and so on
a workshop manual will explain it all to you
Valve might be bent , or valve guid too tight.
you need to ck if valve sliding free , fist.
if there is an adjustment needed on valves , all specs are on the hood lable.
The valve adjustment usually isnt done unless there is valve noise. If you think its valve noise, have the dealer check it or a shop that does a LOT of Toyota work. Special tools and shims are needed to adjust the valves. Its a LOT of work and will not be cheap. You will want to replace the spark plugs at the same time.
You'll find the PCV valve
on the right side of the front valve cover. You'll need to remove the
valve in order to troubleshoot it to determine if you need a
replacement. To remove, pull the PCV valve out of the cover and detach
the hose
Test
the old PCV valve to determine if it needs replacing. Blow air through
it in order to see if it is clogged. If it does not seem to ventilate,
then you'll need to install a new valve.
Pop
the new PCV valve into the spot of the old valve. With the correct
part, it should snap right in. Take the hose and reattach it in order
to complete the installation.
