It worked for a few flights and now the copter will not fly off the ground. ... and ive had it for a year now and everytime I start it up and it takes lift off it starts to fly backwards but otherwise ok toy.
did you put the blades on the right way
you will notice that the leading edge of the blade will be slightly curved and this curve has to be at the top of the blade so that as it is spinning it creates lift and so lifts the chopper of the floor
The top of the main shaft is probably broken. There are 2 pins that hold the "head" for the main blades straight and are probably sheared off. This is causing the balance bar to hit the blades and cause it to crash. You could try the crash kit here: http://www.helipal.com/spare-part_v-max-parts_syma-s107.html
Sorry for late reply, youve probably sorted this by now. This is common problen, some thing to do with the gyro. If you want to spin the rotors without takeing off the trick is to put full right turn then the gyro tries to compensate keeping the rotors turning at speed. To lift of the trick is to get airborn quickly without raising rotor speed slowly then the gyro will keep compensating and keep the rotors running. Had same problem myself, although saved the gears fortunately.
Hope this helps
Matt
Hi This type of helicopter uses a fixed pitch blade. Have you recently replaced one or all the blades? If the blades are correctly positioned then once the motor comes to speed, the pitch of the blade creates enough lift to overcome the force of gravity. The problem you're having can only be that the motor is not coming to speed or the blades have been replaced but the pitch is now at the wrong angle.
Try setting gain on Gyro (use small plastic screwdriver) to a straight up and down position.
Set Gyro setting in Transmitter to 75%. NOTE: before turning on helicopter, be sure to center all adjustments on transmitter
Side switch on GYRO to DS and make sure the servo is moving in correct direction. If not. reverse direction with switch on side of Gyro. You may need to reverse the controller of Rudder in settings on transmitter.
This worked for me on my Blade and using the same Gyro on a self build 450 heli.
