I can't get the lid to lock on my nesco pressure cooker! help

To close the lid, place it on the pot making sure to align the arrow on the lid with the arrow on the lower handle. Make sure the lid is evenly placed on the top rim of the pot. Turn the lid clockwise until the handle on the lid and the lower handle on the pot meet, the lock will automatically click into place.

Not a slow cooker. Soup flew out all over the place with the steam. Not the first time

was the soup 1 inch below the lid? or very near the lid? If near the lid I would say that is the problem. Keep the soup well clear of the lid

I have a Deni pressure cooker. 1 out of 10 times it works correctly. The last 2 times the top exploded off and spread liquid through the entire kitchen. Thank god nobody was injured. I have went through...

All pressure cookers should have a release valve. Be sure that is clean and allows a free flow of steam when the weight is not on it. Test it with just water in the pot. Heat the water until its just about to boil (with the lid off) then close and lock down the lid. Steam should start to come out of the release valve. If not .. clean it again.

I have a stay or go cockpot. Do you leave the latches locked when you cook? Lost my manual.

No that is not necessary they are mearly for travel purposes or if you don't want someone to steal a bite! If you tighten them down too much there could be a buildup of steam which can burn when you open the lid!

Just bought the 5 Qt electric pressure cooker. Tonight is the first time I'm using it. Got two questions.....is the pressure release valve supposed to be so loose? I'm also seeing steam and condensation...

Your gasket is no good and needs to be repaired. The water is supposed to be pressurized as high heat steam and when pressure is excessive the valve does its thing to lower to acceptable levels.

My pressure cooker always makes a hissing sound. Is that close properly?

As long as the lid is properly locked into position it should be closed properly. A certain amount of air and steam will escape from the valve on the lid and will male a hissing sound but this is perfectly normal.

Do you lock the lid while cooking?

make sure u DO NOT lock the clips while cooking, its not a pressure cooker. if you lock the lid the heat and pressure from whatever you are cooking causes an air-tight seal and the lid will shatter or the ceramic pot it self will crack...
