The unit will stay locked until the temperature drops below a certain point, if Grandma opens the oven when it is 900 degrees, its going to be no eyebrows for Thanksgiving. Don't try to force the door open, wait for the display to turn-off the lock icon.

How do I unlock a Miele oven after self cleaning and it has cooled down

This is what worked for my Miele. I used the "self clean" function after couple of years of use and once it was done, the panel showed "Error F" without a specific number. The sales guy where I purchased the oven from, suggested that I turn the breaker off for 30min for a complete reset. Did not work. Based on a friend's suggestion, I initiated the "self clean" again and canceled within a minute. And the door was unlocked !!! A safe try, before calling for the service.

After self-cleaning feature is done the door is still locked. How do I unlock it?

Make sure the clock has the correct setting. Perhaps you could pull it out and unplug it.

Used the self cleaning cycle 24 hrs. ago, but the oven door will not unlock. We tried to run it through another clean cycle but we recieve an E1 error.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
you may have done a panel lock, so try the first solution.

To Lock/Unlock Control: Before locking, make sure the ovens, Timer and Timed Cooking are off. Press and hold START/ENTER until a single tone sounds and "Loc," a picture of a lock and "START?" will appear on the oven display, about 5 seconds. Repeat to unlock and remove "Loc" from display.

To Stop Self-Clean any time:
Press UPPER OFF, LOWER OFF or OFF/CANCEL. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools.

We set it to self clean today, and now about 9 hours later, it is still locked and appears to be running.

Hi,
First, turn off the breaker and stop that thing...the self clean or self destruct feature has caused damage....
The ONLY reason that ovens are made to self clean is because people are inherently lazy...why do something that is hard labor when it can do it its self....but the self cleaning is done through very high heat and this causes damage to the internal wiring and controls also....
Hopefully when the oven cools down it will unlock and you will be okay. You may have to call the customer service number to find out how to get it unlocked and restarted...they know very well how to walk you through this...it is not an uncommon problem, but consumer demands run the market place...

Check out this tip also that I wrote about this problem....

Oven wont work after self clean

I have a Whirlpool MOD. RBS275PDB17 single electric self-cleaning oven; although the manual is generic, it specifies, "When the cycle is completed and the oven cools, "End" will appear on the lower oven display and "LOCKED' will disappear" and "To Stop Self-Clean any time: Press UPPER/OFF, LOWER/OFF or OFF/CANCEL. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools." Has your oven had time to cool?
