SOURCE: On start up a Intel

You will need to reset your CMOS. You can do this by either removing the battery from the board for about 20 minutes than replacing it. It will automatically throw you in to your F2 or F12 setup. Or look for a jumper near the CMOS. Sometimes depending on PC Brand, just holding down a keyboard button continously during boot up will give you a keyboard error and take you to Setup. If one of the above doesn't work, hit me back on this forum and I will provide more help.

SOURCE: IBM 300 GL desk top

IBM computers use the F1 key. It is critical that the keystroke is captured at the right moment in the boot sequence. Otherwise it is ignored. Start tapping the key repeatedly as soon as you turn the system on. Shortly after the memory check and mouse initialization is complete, you should get a BIOS setup menu. If you're still having problems, you might try a different keyboard since it is always possible to have a defect there.

Cl-100 topcon lenso meter initial error problem always comeback when I fix.. pls help how to solve for this

The CL-100 Topcon Lenso meter is a surveying instrument used for measuring distances and angles. An "Initial Error" message can indicate a number of different issues, including:
  1. Calibration Issues: Check that the instrument has been calibrated properly and the calibration values are within the acceptable range.
  2. Software Issues: Update the software on the instrument to the latest version, which may resolve any bugs causing the error.
  3. Hardware Issues: Check the instrument's hardware components, such as the battery, for any signs of damage or wear and replace if necessary.
  4. Settings Issues: Make sure that the instrument's settings are set correctly and adjust them if needed.
  5. Environmental Factors: Environmental factors, such as temperature and humidity, can affect the performance of the instrument. Make sure that the instrument is being used within the recommended temperature and humidity range.
If the "Initial Error" message continues to persist, it is recommended that you seek assistance from a qualified Topcon technician or authorized service center. They can diagnose and repair the issue and restore the instrument to full functionality.

The Bios may be having an issue.
Try clearing your bios.

Check your CMOS\BIOS battery also.

How do you get into the bios on a 785gt-e63 msi motherboard? read the book it said at start up press f1 did not work.

As soon as you turn on the computer start tapping (not fast, but steady) the F1 key, you could try F2, DEL, and other various keys that work on other boards.

Usually the screen will show you what to press in the corner or somewhere on the screen.

F12 for boot / F2 for BIOS / etc
Or it might say Press F1 or F2 or something to enter Set-up.

You have to catch it before the computer starts to boot into your operating system.

At this point you can push the power button for half a second and the computer should turn off instantly as you have not started booting up the computer.
Then you can try another key to enter the BIOS.

After locating the manual and skimming through it, I see that it states you need to press the DEL key to enter setup (BIOS).

Hopefully that helps.

How tp convert a GPT hard drive to a MBR hard drive? thanks

Boot off your Vista disc and go to the Recovery options. Once inside there access Command Prompt (It is a choice in the Menu) type Diskpart.exe and hit enter. Then type Help you will see many options.

What you want to do is type 'List Disk' select the Disk you wish to convert and so forth. Basically the way to convert from GPT to MBR is in there. You can also clean all data off the disk from inside Diskpart and start over with MBR.
Commands to Convert Disks
convert mbr [noerr]

Use the convert mbr command to set the partitioning style of the current disk to MBR. The disk may be a basic disk or a dynamic disk but the disk must not contain any valid data partitions or volumes.

convert gpt [noerr]

Use the convert gpt command to set the partitioning style of the current disk to GPT. The disk may be a basic or a dynamic disk but it must not contain any valid data partitions or volumes. This command is valid only on Itanium-based computers; it may be unsuccessful on x-86-based computers.

convert dynamic [noerr]

Use the convert dynamic command to change a basic disk into a dynamic disk. The disk may contain valid data partitions.

convert basic [noerr]

Use the convert basic command to change an empty dynamic disk to basic.

My Dell Computer says it has to shut down, then reboots and comes up with "hard disk failure", I push F1 and it loads back up ok.

First open cpu cabinet and reconnect all connection to harddisk .
Also refix RAM memory.
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios then check your harddisk is detected proeprly.
aslo go to boot option and set first boot device as your harddisk.
Some times because of bed SATA or IDE cable is detected in bios but it not boot up.
So change sata or IDE cable .

Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Want to connect to my computer

What connector/interface does your PC has
9-pin or 25-pin connector

If it has 9-pin connector: use the following:
DB-9 RS-232 Serial Connection
or
DB-25 RS-232 Serial Connection

If it has 25-pin connector: use the following:
DB-25 Serial Connection
or
DB-25 RS-232 Serial Connection

If you are configuring the computer to use an RS-422A serial port, you need a special cable. Contact the computer or printer network manufacturer to see if an RS-422A cable is available. If no cable is available, contact your computer manufacturer for your computer pin assignments and have a cable constructed.

The default configuration for the serial port on the printer is for RS-232C serial communication. To set the printer to use RS-422A serial communication, change the control panel Serial Menu’s SERIAL setting to SERIAL=RS-422.
