Restart your computer.
Tap on "Delete" until the BIOS comes up.
Look for an option for "VGA mode", as I wouldn't know what your BIOS is, you'll need to look carefully.
When you find it, shut it off, save your options then restart computer.
Comment if this didn't work, I can help you further.

I have a dual display with a Samsung digital LCD flatscreen and LG analog LCD flatscreen running on WinXP with a nVidia GeForce 8400GS video card. The video card is new - the old card (which was hooked up...

Hi

I'm not sure what you mean by VGI. I will assume you mean VGA (Analogue - D Shaped with 15 pinholes).

When pixels or line of lixels fail on a monitor, they usually fail in spots or in a vertical lines due to the design of the matrix.

Since both monitors are sharing a single cable and the graphics card is a new one, the fault automatically isolates itself to either the monitor or its VGA connector.

Check that none of the pins in the end that connects to the faulty monitor are bent and/or touching one another and shorting.

Then try changing the resolution of the graphics card itself and test the monitor's performance at various settings to see if the resolution seeting is straining against the limits of the monitors range.

Right click on open space in the desktop > properties > settings > click and hold the slider scale step by step, up and down the scaled to test the monitor > apply > ok > test for a reasonable period > reset.

Also test the monitor with a single VGA cable to another computer (even a laptop, using the Fn key + external monitor function key).

Thses tests should tell you if the monitor is failing.

I hope this helps.

Distorted display

Hi,

You could isolate the problem if it is a monitor / video card problem by removing the cable (VGA/DVI) and see if the self test feature will have a distorted display

If Yes - Monitor Problem
If No - Video Card Problem or Software problem

If no, try to go to safe mode by tapping "F8" once you turn the computer on.
1. Select Safe mode (Check for video distortion)
2. Select Enable VGA Mode (Check for video distortion)

If one of the 2 is distorted the video card has a problem

If one of them doesn't show any distorted video it means its a driver/software problem.

Hope this helps.

You need to rollback your video driver.
A updated driver for your video card, or on board VGA, has messed with your system.
  1. Right click "Computer"
  2. Click "Properties".
  3. Click "Device Manager"
  4. Go to "Display Adapters"
  5. Right click on installed video card or the like.
  6. Clck on "Properties"
  7. Click on the "Drivers" tab.
  8. Navigate to the "Roll Back Driver" option.
  9. You'll be prompted to make sure it's what you want to do. Click "Yes".
  10. Restart the computer.

Let me know if that helped!

ATI graphics card 9600XT crashes system

Ok, If you havnt already (since putting the new card in) Reinstall Direct-X 9 onto your system, then retry the Catalyst drivers.

If this fails, then the next time you boot, go in through safe mode, goto Start - Search For Files And Folders
When the search window pops up, under the search box is an advanced search. Tick "Search Hidden & System Files & Folders"
Do a search for "CCC.exe" and delete all found.

The Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) causes alot of issues for alot of people for no reason. But if that can be isolated it will help.
