Discrepancy in Cell Phone Memory

When I go to SettingsMemoryUsed SpacePhone Reserved, Text Messages show 486 out of 500. So I go out of that and into Messaging Section and delete a text Message. Then, when I go back into Memory, it shows 485. so I should have 485 Text Messages. But when I add up all the Text Messages in the Messaging Folders, it's only 279. Why is there a Discrepancy of 206 Text Messages? I am constantly bumping up against the 500 Text Limit and have to delete Texts I'd rather not. Once, I lost part of a Text, since it would not save to drafts!

Usually this means the text Inbox/Outbox is full, once you delete them it should go away. You can have 500 text messages total on your reserved memory. Once you reach 500 you get the flashing mail icon and it saves texts to the smartchip (which holds 30 extra texts) and you won't be able to send a normal sms message, it will make you send a mms slide. Delete your messages, and that should fix it. Hope this helps, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask :)

yes... i am also getting same problem.

total SMS memory is 500 ie 200 for inbox , 200 for sentbox, 50 outbox and 50 for drafts. your my folder SMS's are still considering in inbox. that should not be more than 200.

LG KP500 Cant access text inbox

go to settings then memory manager then handset reserved then clear all and give code 0000 .
after this in the setting reset setting problem solve
its good solution i done hemself.

Text msgs go to sim card memory instead of phone memory

go to message main menu scroll to 'message inbox' press menu key again , scroll down to 'message setup',press select. scroll to 'text message set up ' press select . in the new menu it will show u 'store to phone , sim' in that option select phone

To Transfer text messages from Samsung phone to computer, we need a third-party program to help us access to the text messages on Samsung phone and export them to computer. Coolmuster Android Assistant is such a program. After linking Samsung phone to computer via usb cable, it will scan out all data on it, including the text messages. Just a note,

Despite the fact that this is a wonderfull solution and bravo for solving it just to mention that even when the memory of the phone is large the text memory is most likely a reserved size.

In some phones this memory is not reserved but it is not easy to tell from specifications.
