The coil in the distributor is THE coil. Try replacing that coil.

My 98 gmc 1500 V8 5.0l won't start. Has good spark

Spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine, if it starts and you have fuel pressure you have no injection or injector pulse as we call it. Check ECM fuse one and two for continuity if it starts with fluid..

I have a 2000 lhs. changed timing belt, water pump. turned engine over twice and checked timing marks. marks were inline. start engine and have a miss. checked out and found dead cylinder. swap spark plug...

Yep, did the old belt break? If yes, you may have a bent valve. Run a compression test on the engine to verify. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Engine is turning over, but not starting

first, test for spark at the ignition coil. take the power cable that connects from the ignition coil and disconnect the end at the distributor. hold the bare connecting end a fraction of an inch away from a metal paqrt of the cars frame and attempt to start. if the ignition coil is good, it should throw a spark. if the ignition coil sparks, next check your spark plugs for oil, grime, black or white discoloration on the spark tips (that point inside the engine). if there is a lot of build up or discoloration, replace the spark plugs. if this does not solve it, change your distributor cap, and if this doesnt slove it, change your spark plug wires.

No spark at coil, no blown fuses, turns over fine ,but no start.

check module in distributor, check coil in top of cap also ,check the plugs to see if spark is there, if not coil is bad or module in distributor ,hope this helps thanks robert b.

1994 corolla dx 1.8l automatic

Have your checked your coils? Never replace parts to try and fix a problem, Find the exact problem and fix it! No spart would be either a bad cam/crank sensor, bad coil pack or ecm fuse!
