Ok well there are two issues here the boiling and the potential for the transmission to be harmed by the contamination of the tranny fluid by antifreeze. First A/T fluid is not going to harm the coolant system in the least, however antifreeze in the trans. fluid will harm the automatic transmission get the tranny flushed as soon as possible , Change out the thermostat then refill radiator using 50% water 50 % antifreeze ( premixed in container) fill radiator then run the car without radiator cap add coolant as needed, put you radiator cap on and wait 5 - 10 minutes until car comes up to operatimg temp. you must observe the engine to make sure the electric radiator fan comes on after the car runs for at least ten minutes if it does not the problem is the usually the radiator fan relay or the fan coolant temperature sensor last in rare cases the fan itself. As for the air bleed usually letting the car run with the radiator cap off for ten to fifteen minutes will do it just make sure you don't remove the radiator cap when the car is hot 2nd degree burns usually hurt.

Water and steam from side of engine near coil pack

- Could possibly be worn or blown head gasket. Cracked head worst case. Pretty expensive fix either way if taken to a shop or dealer, but can be taken care of. If driven too long or hard, seal or head could fail further mixing your coolant, oil and gas causing serious damage to your engine.
- Best case, check your freeze plugs, one or more may need replacing. They are pretty cheap and fairly easy to replace, and can be acquired at your local auto parts store.
- To prevent future problems with this, you can take precautions by replacing your thermostat, changing coolants to 50/50 anti-freeze, and flushing your radiator. I would NEVER use stop-leak, as it may fix leaks with your radiator and/or other components, but can cause other blockages internally inside your engine. Also, check your hoses for cracks and pinholes or leaks. Hope this fixes your problem.

I have a 2001 Ford windstar, I was told while having my oil changed that there was oil in my coolant, yet when my we removed the coolant from the reservoir and waited for it to separate it never did, which...

In my opinion, if you drained the coolant and there was NO OIL in it or any evidence ( an oily film in the reservoir), you were the poor victim of a dishonest oil change facility.

Just watch your coolant and oil level daily for the next week or so. If any milky residue appears on the inside of the cap where you add oil, or any oil film builds up on the coolant reservoir, then you might have a problem. Most likely a head gasket has failed.

when oil mixes with coolant it sill stay suspended for a long time. Water and oil don't mix but coolant and oil will due to the chemical properties of the coolant and it can take days to seperate.

I have 98 neon 2.2L DOHC that uses coolant, just a little every time I drive it, I don't see any leaks and no coolant in the oil and cannot smell any coolant in the exhaust. Will have to add about a quart...

I would1st Pressure test the cooling system for leaks. Also, be sure to pressure
test the Radiator cap as well.
Assuming pressure testing the system shows no leaks, and if your radiator cap is
2 or more years old, then most likely your radiator cap is defective. Replace it!
