Check the schematic for it to see just what is feeding the circuit . And do not overlook the ignition switch circuit - on may cars that socket is dead unless the ignition is on.

the cigarette lighter fuse is usually the radio,clock ,instrument panel illumination fuse as well .If these other items are working ok i'd have to say the cigarrette lighter heat element is burned out or there is a loose /disconnected wire to the cigarette lighter socket
interior fuse box lower dash drivers side the lid will give the fuse location etc . the rear 'lighter socket ' is usually for 12v auxillary input lead ie tyre compressor , unless it had a lighter in it, don't use this as a lighter socket as will blow fuse , the same may be for the front as most cars i've seen post 2008 dont have cigarette lighter's only 12v AUX sockets . check with your drivers handbook
sometimes these are on a circuit breaker check with a test light for power in the center of your socket then be sure to check the ground if no ground or power always go back to source this circuit may even have a relay
the fuse panel is usually labeled, it should read power port or power outlet. make sure there is nothing in the cigarrette lighter port or the power ports, children tend to place coins in them
Check fuses inside AND under the hood..... "cig lighter" is 15 amp...... "power" is 25 amp under the hood. Also check your power socket in the console to see if coins have gotten in there. There was a penny in mine and I blew 3 fuses before I learned to check that from another forum. Plucked it out with some gum on the end of a stick!
did you try to bend the tabs in the socket with the power on using a metal screwdriver???
There must be a fuse, or it cannot have worked!
Check you are reading the fuse diagram the right way up, its easy to not realise its different from the view of the fuses, german cars are prone to this!
using a test light touch each side of all the fuses one at a time lift seide then right side of fuses. if power on only one side then bad fuse. this fuse should be the same as the radio or acc fuse. also check power to the back of the socket as this connection sometimes burns out.
