They are both gfci breakers and I can't seem to find the difference or even a thql gfp breaker and why do some of the same model numbers have a red button and some a white button

I am not an electrician, but i know they are not interchangeable. i think gfci protect the circuit, and gfp protect equipment.

SOURCE: LAst night we lost two rooms completely light and

1) A circuit breaker will not reset if breaker is hot, or if there is a short to ground.

2) Hot breaker: If circuit is pulling more amps than the breaker rating, or if breaker is loose on the busbar, then breaker gets hot, and trips.
3) Volts x amps = watts. Add up wattage of everything on breaker and divide by 120Volts and that gives you amps.
If your breaker is 15 amps, the SAFE maximum is 80% or 12 amps.

4) If breaker is loose, you can smell burning and hear crackling sound. Jiggle the breaker around and listen for crackling.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-circuit-breaker.html

5) If there was a short somewhere on the breaker circuit, the breaker will trip.
When you unpluged each device and then the breaker was reset, then that says problem is probably NOT the wiring or breaker.
The problem was probably inside one of the devices that was plugged in.

6) If breaker trips again, unplug each device one at a time, and then try to reset breaker after each unplug to see if you can isolate suspected device.

SOURCE: looking for upc code for circuit breaker thql 100

The General Electric THQL two pole 100 amp double breaker?

http://www.azpartsmaster.com/Products/Circuit-Breaker----GE-THQL-100-Amp-DP__BKRTHQL21100.aspx

It's coded HACR.
Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration equipment.
Means it can be used with electric motors. Electric motors draw a surge of electricity to start.

The UPC code will be for THAT style of breaker, and THAT manufacturer who made it.
Same with the EAN.
It will be on the breaker.

Let's use the Connecticut General Electric THQL 21100 100amp 2-pole breaker for an example;

http://www.plumbersurplus.com/Prod/Connecticut-Electric-THQL21100-100-Amp-2-Pole-General-Electric-Thick-Series-Plug-In-Circuit-Breaker/159077/Cat/1478

Here you see it's UPC is 094925005165

If you are trying to purchase, or guide someone remote from you, in buying a breaker that will fit their service panel, find out what service panel it is.
The Model Number.

This will tell you, or a representative that sells breakers, what General Electric style of breaker that is needed.
Or state it in a Comment, and I'll look it up.

Regards,
joecoolvette

Ge 50amp gfci trips, worked great before I bought it

Hi hondo,

When an electric motor kicks on there is an in rush current called FLA(full load amps), it is usually about 125% of rated circuit amperage. Try a 2 pole 60 amp gfci circuit breaker and see if that solves your issue. Going up to this amp breaker will not be a fire hazard or cause any anomalies.

Qo260gfi not tripping

Question is not fully clear.

2-pole 240Volt gfci circuit breaker requires the white wire be connected to neutral busbar.

Easy solution for 240Volt spa that comes with gfci:
Replace spa gfci with regular non-gfci breaker.
Install 2-pole GFCI breaker in main panel, and connect wire to spa breaker.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-GFCI.html#2-pole-gfci

Having 2 breakers is not a problem.
Having 2 GFCI on same circuit is a problem.

How to replace a Bryant GFCB120 Circuit Breaker

If you have a Bryant load center, you can use other breakers in it, including the Eaton GFCB120 GFI since several companies unified their design. The GFI (ground fault interrupter) or GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter), same thing, may be required for a device you are installing, such as bathroom, kitchen or outdoor fixtures.
The Eaton series includes very clear installation instructions, but if your problem is that they are missing, then all you do is install the breaker in a open slot in the breaker panel, but you have to attach the neutral [white] wire differently. On regular breakers, the neutral goes right to the ground lug in the panel. With a GFI breaker, it goes through the breaker, and then is connected to the ground lug.

What GFI breaker is compatible with a Challenger Breaker Box

The National Electrical Code prohibits the use of mixing circuit breaker manufacturers and circuit breaker panels by requiring all electrical equipment to be certified (UL Listed, FM, etc.). Challenger breakers are UL listed, as are Challenger panels. All the circuit breakers installed must be made by Challenger and must be approved for use in that particular panel (more on this below). Installing a different brand breaker into the panel causes the panel and the breaker to lose the UL / FM listing. The lack of a listing causes the electrical code violation. Should a fire occur, and the source is determined to be the use of a mixed manufacturer panel / circuit breaker installation, you insurance company may balk at paying a claim.

If you are unsure of the circuit breakers that are approved for use in your panel, look on the inside cover of the door. On it should be listed the manufacturer's name and all the devices that that the panel will accept. Deviating from the list will trigger the loss of listing.

A final thought: Most GFI breakers are much more expensive than a GFCI outlet. Install a standard non-GFI Challenger breaker and feed a new outlet (next to the panel) with a GFCI plug via the LINE terminals. Connect the rest of the old circuit to the outlet's LOAD terminals. The portion of the circuit that is connected to the LOAD terminals are now GFCI protected. Overloads will trip the circuit breaker as usual, but ground fault issues will trip at the outlet instead.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. thanks.

You can buy an inexpensive GFCI tester for as little as $10-$12. A better one with several mv settings will cost you a bit more. This way you can test this circuit and even GFCI receptacles. Then you'll know for sure if your breaker is working.

The 20 amp breaker for our spa circulation trips within hours or as long as one week. Tthe breaker does not trip off but cuts the power. it requires tripping it off then turning back on. Is this a faulty...

This is probably not a faulty breaker. A GFCI breaker is designed to trip when there is a 4-6ma inbalance of current(usually 5) between the two current carrying conductors (hot and nuetral) You may be having a moisture problem. Check all of your electrical connections (with power off) for moisture. If you find any throughly dry (like with hair dryer) and seal to prevent further problems. Your motor may be an open drip proof motor. IF condensation builds inside that coud also cause problem. There are GFCI testers available if you wanted to test your breaker, but for one time it probably isn't practical.
