Sounds like the motor burned out.

Yes that is strange, if you let it cool down and try it again with pushing the re-set button and still does not work, try plugging it into a different outlet. Find something in your place that you know outlet is working, lamp, toaster you know. If does work in another out let, then you of course griped that breaker. Then check your breaker box to see what breaker is tripped, and switch it back on, might just of had a power surge based on putting on reverse. If that don't work, I suppose possibly something in motor or switch went out. Please let me know, if it works, I will take a banana smoothie LOL

there are brands on the market that make smoothies cheaper that the repairing cost of the burnt out unit

Sounds like you have burned out the motor of the blender.
