The set is under a year old and is under warranty. The LVDS cable inside these sets have a history of coming loose. The problem could be the panel. Either way, the set is the problem and needs to be looked at. This set is worked on in the home and does not need to be taken to a shop, so, you can still use it. The display screen is made of a matrix of elements connected to cables
along the side and top. On your unit, some of these many, tiny
connections are making contact intermittantly thus losing the elements
in that area. These contacts are held in place with just pressure and
if that is disturbed, you lose that line of elements. Try squeezing the
cabinet of the TV on the outside at the top in the area of the loss and
see if that makes a difference. May have to go inside and see if the
contact assembly is disturbed or warped or something.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies.If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min.This should help even out the pixels on the display.
