What causes horizontal lines at the top of an LG flat screen tv?
My TV is an LG model 55uh6150. The tv has horizontal lines at the top of the screen for about 4 to 5 inches. The lines do not flicker. Below the first set of lines the picture is normal. Then a second set of horizontal lines appear. They do not flicker. Below the second set the picture displays normally. Would this be a defective T-Con board?
Would the display possibly be defective?

The horizontal lines that are showing up on your TV's screen is caused by either a bad cable or a cable that is not correctly fastened to the input and the output ports for the TV and it can cause interference then and the signal and cause horizontal or vertical lines to appear. It could also be the TV"s screen is no longer working and needs to be replaced.

From your description, the sound you are hearing is the inverter(s) that drive the back light for the LCD screen/module.
The inverters mounted on the back side (one lower right and one left side) of the LCD screen/module.They are under the sheet metal cover/shields.
The inverters are going out and or the LCD screen/module is going bad too.
That LG TV has only a 1 year on parts and labor from the date of purchase, but you could call LG and ask for their help for such a new TV.They might do it under a warranty, for little or no cost to you.

if this line is in the picture, that is possible burn in screen. if you have a black bar at the top or faint white lines that come down from top this is caused by defective filters in vertical circuit or bad vertical output. mch
