SR Auto stands for "Scene Recognition Auto" - This is Fuji's 6 scene-recognition function with fully loaded detection functions that detect faces, blinks and smiles for clear optimized people photos.

Framed scenes are automatically detected and selected into appropriate camera settings:

  • Portrait
  • Landscape
  • Night
  • Macro (closeups)
  • Night Portrait
  • Backlit Portrait.

Not sure where you're seeing "P", but this abbreviation is often used to designate "Program", and contains auto settings for various lighting conditions. I don't see this on the Fuji site or in reference to their camera's at all, though it is used on Sony digital cameras.

Our camera (S9500) has mysteriously stopped allowing us to use any of the manual functions in manual mode. The light meter is only working on auto exposure setting.

Yes. contact Fuji and it cost about £14.00, its a doddle to fit.
When you recieve it you'll work out how to remove the broken part because you'll understand how it locates, basically a small Pozi screwdriver and a sharp knife to lever the top off.

Fujifilm FinePix S1000FD shutter button won't focus

There is an option in the menu to put camera on continuous auto focus. You must have the camera on manual setting to have this option available, but once selected, it should stay on in auto setting. It will wear the battery faster, but it should solve the issue you are having. Hope this helps!!!

Write error

I have a brand new fuji finepix 1000fd and was having the same problem (tried two different cards). I contacted Fuji service and they said only Sandisk and Fujifilm SD cards are guaranteed to work. I bought a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB card ($20 at Office Depot) and after 20 pictures I haven't had an error.... yet.

Hope this helps.
