Question about Hobart 24 in. LXIH-3 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I use this dishwasher in a florist to clean wax out of candle glass and recently it is not working. E4 codes appear, and it over flows sometimes.

Do you think it could be the control board if we have tried to clean the sensor and replace and still doesn't work. Not sure if I should try to fix it or get something else. But If it is the sensors I am afraid it will keep happening

This all I can find Machine will not fill or will not fill high enough. (Display shows E0, E2, E3 or E4. Machine will not run). 1. Low water pressure - check for clogged hose strainer; ensure the site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures. 2. Make sure probes are clean. (See Cleaning.) 3. No water pressure - main water supply valves may not be working. 4. Anti-siphon valve - located in the lower left area of the chamber just above the water line. Drain the machine and insert toothpick or similar object into hole to verify ball (3?16" OD) is free to float. 5. Delime machine perhaps the wax is plugging up the floating ball area

Testimonial: "This is a under counter LXI machine and has several sensor, not a upright with a floating ball. I know the wax is building up on the sensors but I it was working fine for about a year, then we changed out the sensors and it is messing up again. so I was thinking maybe its a control board issue?"

Wick problems

Turn the bowl upside down and use a match or much better, a cigarette lighter to melt the wax directly below (normally above) the black wick, moving the flame it back and forward. Watch out for hot wax dripping onto your skin!
Then turn the bown over and use a butter knife to scrape the wax above the wick away and remove the wax above and on either side of the wick. You may have to do this operation a few times, but eventually you should be able to gently get the knife under the buried wick and (gently!) prise it back into an upright position.
Don't do this roughly, or you could snap the wick off at its base, it needs to be pretty much out of the wax and softened by the flame before you try to bend it back up.

Then light the cantle and let it burn for ten minutes, until the wax all around it is clear liquid - then blow it out, and after ensuring that the wick tip is no longer glowing, quickly crush a few absorbent paper towels into the bowl and upturn it again. The aim is to allow the towel to absorb excess molten wax, which should preven the wick from being buried under wax again when the candle cools.

A plastic lid melted on the coil, still smells like "melted wax", seems clean, what can I do?

You will probably have to replace the heating coil in the bottom of the dishwasher to get rid of the smell. The coils aren't that expensive and replacing them is an easy job. Hardest part is getting the dishwasher out from under the counter to do it.

I put in the game Call of Duty; Black ops into my xbox. Sometimes it reads it as a DVD and other times it say "unable to read disk, clean with soft clothe." I take the game out and wipe it off...

Typically it is from a dirty or scratched DVD. Some fabrics may scratch the dvd. It is best to use a very soft flannel cloth only and even with that handle carefully.

You can also use a wax like candle wax and softly rub it over and wipe it off. It must be a true soft wax, not a silicon wax. That will fill in tiny scratches when cleaning isn't enough sometimes.

Hobart dishwasher model LX30H; displays wrench and E4.

Water is not to top sensor in alotted time.
Top sensor is in right rear corner, and is the upper of the two. Check the connector to the probe on the outside at the back. (sometimes gets wet fro vacuum breaker leaking when dirty or low flow pressure. Machine needs 20 psi flow rate

Hi, I washed a candle, yes candle, in my daughters brand new lg dishwasher and now it doesnt work. Surprising i know. After spending days tearing it apart and removing all the wax out of the inside as well...

The problem is that when you ran a wash cycle.. the heater came on and melted the candle and some wax probably ended up in your pump or hoses in/out of that pump.. Since you did not provide a specific model number, I cannot provide specific details on how to dismantle everything but here is a link that you can get service manuals etc for LG products. Hopefully, yours is listed there and the details will be clear enough for you to clean everything up and get water draining again. http://136.166.4.200/contents/Dishwasher/LDF6810.htm
You might also find a detergent ( I am thinking liguid plummer or something ) that might break up any wax residue without having to open everything up to clean it.. Good luck and hope this helps you...

Sounds as though the drain is blocked partially. E4 is the overfill code. Try cleaning out the drain.

E4 indicates water level has not reached top water sensor. Check for proper flow-water pressure to machine (15-25psi) and clean sensor in wash tank

Error mesage E4

E4 commonly means an overflow detected in the bottom over flow tray - try removing the kick board from the front of the machine - you should see 2 plastic black panels about 4 inches wide each, using a flat edged screwdriver pop the panels off and you will see the mechanics of the machine - the base is classed as the over flow tray - when water fills this tray a polystyrene float is pushed up and an E4 error code is detected - tilt the dishwasher back and allow the machine to dry out before trying it again - this should work unless the water seal around the filter basket is broken - in this case an engineer should be called to replace this part. Hope this Helps.
Thanks
