I think the problem with your laptop is that the operating system on your laptop is corupt, that is why the windows is not responding. I will advice you reinstall the operating system on your laptop, if the operating system can be reinstall, the windows should work fine and respond.
if you have the windows cd that came with your laptop, you can try repairing the Windows installation. to do so, insert the disc, turn your system on. as you progress, you will see a screen that give you an option to repair windows without formatting the system of affecting your files.
Please connect a USB Mouse and keyboard then power on your laptop it will boot your win xp then re enable your touchpad by going to device manager. It will work.
Turn on your laptop n try pressing Alt-F10....n try restart it....generally acer laptops work properly after pressing Alt F10.....
Also if u r able to turn on ur laptopn in safe mode then try deactivate windows update...and restart ur laptop in normal mode.....

(More) hi i have a HP compaq nc6000 laptop, and when i try to start it up all i get is noise of fan starting up with one glowing orange light next to a lightning bolt like symbol. IWhen I turn ON my laptop first time HP Compaq nc6000, sometimes the orange LED will just light up and nothing happens, sometimes when I get lucky I will be able to goto Windows. when start work properly.
restart u r laptop and press f8 button when u r laptop start in starting press f8 and then restore u r system and again install u r driver after uninstalling
