Make sure all the drains are closed, start filling the rad and allow the coolant time to drain down, then fill again. Keep filling the rad unit it no longer drains down, just make sure to stop filling it when the level in the rad is just barely visible when looking down inside it. Now fill the overflow bottle to the lowest level mark. Start the car and turn you heater on to full heat. Let it warm up to proper temp, may/may not need to put more in rad. Keep an eye on the level in the rad it will expand and may overflow, if it looks like it will overflow use yout tester to remove some fluid. Once you see the coolant flowing throug the rad wait a few minutes, then put the rad cap on. Let it run a few more minutes to get the rest of the air out, then drive like normal. Check the fluid level in the overflow bottle (engine cold) over the next few days fill to proper level as needed.

Coolant is brown

brow and muddy color usually is a sign of not using enough antifreeze to protect system from rust.
drain the radiator and completely flush the system. use a quality flush system from the auto parts store. after system is flushed so it only flows clean water after draining a few times then empty system and refill with 50/50 antifreeze /water and make sure system is cycled through 5-6 time to make sure air is purged from the system

What is proper method for flushing the radiator and engine in a 1999 Pontiac Montana?

1: Drain coolant system
2: Purchase coolant flush, making sure you have the proper amount for your size of coolant system
3: Pour coolant flush into your radiator, filling the rest with water
4: On the coolant flush bottle it will tell you how long to run your vehicle
5: Once done running, let cool enough to open radiator cap, and drain system COMPLETELY by first draining out of pep **** on radiator, then taking one side of the hoses off the radiator and draining those
6: Put hoses back on and fill system with coolant. When the fluid gets to the top of the fill port on radiator, start vehicle and let run, allowing air to escape the system, and fill as necessary

What type of engine coolant does a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?

provided that all the old coolant is completly flushed out any good 50-50 low no silacates antifreeze will work. The trational Green fluilds will all mix with each other b ut not the other colors, Some combinations will gel or silt up and then insulate or clog up the compleate cooling system. All antifreezes are marked to tell you what manufacyures minium spechs they will pass. The thing to remember is all the old fluild ( no matter what kind it is) Needs to be completely flushed out with clear water. and if your mixing the new coolant yourself it's best to use distilled water as many of the additives to drinking water aren't nessaryly a good coolant. Of course your dealer will sell you the Chysler Anti freeze for your car but you don't have to and the ones that are marked 50/50 are ready to go you just pour them in.

2000 Dodge Caravan 2.4 L Radiator fan motor will not stop running with engine off.

The fan should continue to run until the coolant reaches the shut-down temperature as determined by a sensor. Check the coolant level, is the van running hotter than it used to? A radiator flush may resolve the problem as build-up in the system can coat the sensor, preventing it from operating correctly.

Heater on my 05 Grand Caravan blows cold air when below 30 degrees - above 30 works fine. Heat gauge shows normal so it shouldn't be thermostat. Checked coolant and it is fine.

just because the gauge seems normal doesnt mean the thermostat is good, its 5 years old,and may be opening to soon, i would start by having the t-stat replaced and while thats being done have the cooling system flushed including a flush off the heatercore. i ve worked on a couple of these vans with heating problems, most were low on coolant due to a slow waterpup leak, the others with half plugged heatercores, due to the lack of coolant flushes. hope this helps.

96 dodge caravan to show its overheating then return to normal

air pockets in the cooling system can cause this problem. idle engine with radiator cap removed for 10 -15 min. Do not let engine overheat and make sure coolant lvl is topped off. this should bleed all air from system.

Where is the drain valve on 2002 dodge caravan radiator?

its a pitcock facing the cab bottom of the radiator, plastic flat. once you find the pitcock just put a bucket underneath and turn it.then refill. if you want to flush(run fluid thru to clean it out) the radiator id suggest taking it in. you dont have to flush it every time you change the coolant out.
