1>the pressure switch under the seat may be malfunctioning? (it will cause the engine to die immediately when trying to engage the cutting blades because it thinks your not sitting in the seat.
2>dirty or clogged air cleaner element will cause engine to die when engaging cutting blades. This can be tested very easily by removing the air cleaner element and then trying to engage the blades again. If this works then replace air cleaner element immediately before running the engine anymore.
I have personally experienced both of these problems myself more that once.

Testimonial: "seat switch works as it should motor stops when you get of,put a new air cleaner and sponge cover which i put on yesterday, thanks for your input friend."

PTO turns without mower shaft inserted. Mower blades turn when rotating shaft by hand. Slide shaft back into PTO and nothing is turning. Belts on mower deck look ok.

Sounds like your magnetic clutch is not fully engaged or slipping and cannot handle the load of the mower deck..try this...Using a good pair of snug fitting gloves..with the engine in its lowest idle position and the shaft out of the clutch turn on the clutch..now carefully see if you can manually stall ( make the clutch slip) if it does sip or stall it needs replaced.just be careful....good luck..

Stalls When engaging the blade clutch

Check that the blade brake is disengaging. Slip belt off blade spindles and check that they spin freely. Check underside of deck for clogged grass, ropes, wire, etc.
