If it is a CRT you need a scan converter. Some can cost you as little as $29.00 on ebay. Look for VGA to RCA. The low dollar devices are not great quality but do work.

If it is a tv with HDMI you can get a DVI to HDMI converter for $12 to $25 from best buy. If it is a computer with VGA out you can get a vga to hdmi out converter for $27 to $50.

If it is a tv with VGA in you can connect direct from the vga out on your computer directly to the tv. If your computer has DVI out you can get a converter for $12 or less to convert to VGA.

There are so many options that I can go on and on. You really didn't give me much information but I hope I helped you a little..

I HAVE A LG FLATRON M197WA LCD TV MONITOR . HOW I CAN OPEN BOTH TV AND PC AT A TIME ? HOW I ADJUST THE MONITOR TO VIEW BOTH IN A SINGLE WINDOW? 0919830151045

You can't. The TV can't operate as both a monitor and a TV receiver at once. In order to use the TV as a computer monitor you need to select the VGA input, which shuts off the TV tuner. If you want to watch TV at the same time, you need a TV tuner card in the computer. Then you can have the TV program displayed in one window while another displays whatever other application you're running.

Got a 19" LG LCD

To convert a LCD Monitor into a TV
Instructions
    • 1

Compare internal and external TV tuners that are designed for use with computers. See if the tuner supports HD, DVI, component video, S-video, stereo, surround sound or other features you might like to use. Ensure that any internal devices will work with the expansion slots in your computer.

    • 2

Purchase a regular TV tuner if your monitor has S-video, coaxial or RCA inputs. These can be seen at the back of the monitor. S-video should be clearly marked; coaxial is a large round port, and RCA inputs are typically smaller and brightly colored. If your monitor does not have these inputs, purchase a special TV tuner designed just for computer monitors. If you would like to use the tuner with your computer and monitor, choose an internal TV tuner. If you're using your computer monitor as a television on its own, select a stand-alone external tuner. Install the internal TV in your computer, if applicable.

    • 3

Connect the TV tuner to the monitor with the proper cable. Select S-video as the connection option if both your tuner and monitor support it. Choose RCA component video as your next option. Use coaxial only if your monitor and tuner do not have the aforementioned connections. If your monitor has none of these connections, use a standard VGA cable to connect the tuner and monitor.

    • 4

Connect the tuner's audio outputs to your monitor's speakers. If your monitor has no speakers directly attached, connect external speakers to the TV tuner. This can usually be achieved using regular audio or RCA cable.

    • 5

Install an HD antenna high on a wall if you will be picking up free over-the-air television signals with your monitor. If you will be using satellite or cable TV with your monitor, simply plug the satellite or cable set top box into the tuner using RCA or coaxial cables. Then connect the tuner directly to the monitor.

    • 6

Set your tuner to the channel you use to pick up television stations. If you receive free over-the-air television, this channel will be 3 or 4. If you have satellite or cable TV, this station is determined by your television service provider. Check the documentation that came with your system to determine which channel to set the tuner on. You will probably need to change channels using the satellite or cable box rather than the TV tuner.

Could you please let me know if i can use my viewsonic monitor as a tv if so what cord do i need to get

The monitor does not have a built-in TV tuner and cannot function as a TV unless your computer has a TV tuner. In this case all you need to do is connect the monitor to your computer and start the TV tuner/program in your computer.

Can i use the dv port on my monitor to display a movie on a led tv? i bought a dvi to hdmi adapter and plugged into my monitor dv port and the hdmi cable into my hdmi port on my tv and i'm getting nothing...

Ports on the monitor are for receiving the signals from the sources, not for sending signals out to another devices.
Your TV HDMI should be connected directly to the video source output, not through the monitor.

LCD Computer monitor as a TV monitor

It could be used as a monitor if you have on of thoose advanced Digital Tuners, They usually have a DVI or VGA port.Especially the HDTV ones. Connect thoose and you're off. If your monitor supports TV tuning, just connectt eh cable straight away and you should be able to watch TV. I would use digital tuners since they are becoming Widely avaible.

Monitor into TV

The monitor may not be compatible with your TV box. Basically if the monitor can't handle the refresh rate or resolution a blank screen like this will result. There should be a way to change the refresh rate or a standard refresh rate listed in the manual. What brand/,model of tv box is it?
