1996 750 Kat Katana. Why does it die when put in gear?

Definitely sounds like a sidestand switch problem. If it runs in neutral and revs freely the only thing you change is to pop it into gear. Why bypass the switches unless faulty? Have you bypassed it the correct way? Try both a closed circuit (wires connected) AND open circuit (wires separated). Some operate when switch has pin pushed in, others when pin released.

I have Toyota Land Cruiser Model S-HDJ81V-RNPCX (1 HD-T) and recently I was doing a major overhaul the engine, everything was fine except the gear. It's seem like gear 1 and gear 2 didn't work. Looks

check that you have hooked up all the cable connections properly. run fault codes and look for TCM problem. Have a pressure test done on the transmission as there may be band/clutch adjustment problems.

After starting my Roadstar in neutral, as soon as I put it in gear, it dies. It reacts to the shift, not the clutch. Is it electrical? Mechanical? I need help troubleshooting. thanks.

With the engine off, put it in gear and pull the clutch lever. If the bike rocks freely back and forth, the clutch is releasing correctly and eliminates mechanical problems. The only possible electrical problem would be a wiring fault involving a gear position indicator (if the bike has such a thing). If it does have such an indicator, find the switch (on either side of the transmission case) and disconnect the wiring (plug?) Try the bike again. If it now keeps running, I'd suspect some form of cross wiring short within the wiring harness. If it does not run at all, then the bike probably won't start and run except in neutral--hook up the switch again. Did this problem start suddenly, or after a repair of some sort???

Its the same problem I have. It"s called a TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) Just unplug the wiring harness on the drivers side, connected to the transmission, it works fine now.
