Are you hearing a sound, often loud, coming from inside the fan when it blows the breaker? I suspect that there's a wire lose inside and the electricity is arcing. Is the fan grounded? It's often a green wire coming out of the fan that has to be screwed into the recessed box in the ceiling.

Hunter ceiling fan/light unit install with 3 pole switches. there are 2 white, 2 black and one orange wires coming out of the electrical box. How do i handle the installation?

Not understanding, three pole switch is a wrong switch, wires in the ceiling or wall electric box.
Needed: What switch is existing and what wires are in the switch box and runs or groups in each run coming in as wire groups. Same for ceiling box, colors and wires in each run coming in.
Basically, remove the existing ceiling fixture and connect the ceiling fan replacing the fixture to the same wires the fixture was connected to. White to white, green or bare to green or bare, colored wire to fan's blue and black. Wired like this one switch controls both fan and light, on and off at same time. Use fan pull chain switch for individual fan or light control.

Bad hunter ceiling fan light pull switch

I don't know what you mean, longer stem/chain housing to hold light fixture. You should be replacing a two wire switch only.

DO NOT CUT WIRES!Call 1-888-830-1326 with model # to order the correct switch.

Hunter fan will not operate

Hello

Did somebody pull one of the chains hanging from the fan to the off position? Could be a bad switch connected to the chain? Bad motor? Bad switch on wall? Take fan down and make sure there is power coming into the fan and at the switch.

Ceiling fan pull chain connected but does not click on

There is a pull chain switch inside the fan termination housing. you will have to take the little cover off and remove the switch. it has 2 small screws with wire landed under them. Turn off the power at the breaker before working on the switch. take this little ****** out and put in a new one. you can get them at the Home Depot or equivelant. it don't matter if the new switch is a little bigger but it still has to fit. use some judgement here. wire it in the place of the old one, turn the power back on at the breaker and it should be ready to go. Presto.

We have a hunter type 2 ceiling fan installed on a bedroom ceiling. the fan pull chain is disconnected from within the base of the fan. please advise.

Okay. Turn off circuit breaker. Take the bottom off the fan. Mark how the wires are connected. Remove switch by unscrewing the sleeve you mentioned. Take the switch to Home Depot (or the like) -- buy a replacement.

If you have to turn the breaker back on during this process, make sure you have a wire nut over the end of each of the loose wires you disconnected from the switch.

After you take the switch out, you'll know how to reinstall it, so I won't go thru that.
