SOURCE: Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Combo plays vcr for about 5 second then stops and shut off, when turned back on it ejects the tape.

This combo has a problem with the vcr unit which take up wheel will stop working and spill the tape. the unit will stop and eject the tape. You have to replace the whole vcr assembly.

SOURCE: when playing back vcr tapes on my magnavox ZV427MG9 A, i have a tracking problem with tapes recorded on slp. i get white streaks on the playback, and manual tracking does not help. tapes recorded on s

The VCR has at least four "heads" two are for 2 hr and two for 6 hour (sp and slp)

It is most likely one of the heads used in the SLP mode is slightly blocked with tape debris--heads need to be manually cleaned in the right way.

SOURCE: The VCR accepts the tape and starts to play; then stops and shuts off; when you turn the power back on the tape ejects

You have a transport problem, the mechanism the plays, FF or rewinds is not working.

Someone is going to have to open and look at the unit---as simple as a belt off or broken to the idler (rubber or geared) that doe the actual work, finding a shop that will work on a VCR unit is getting hard as most of the current techs have never seen this type of unit.

What I used to do when I opened one was have a old cassette with the tape removed! but the reels inside of it still there--tape off both sides of the cassette where it opens so the sensors on either side do not try to stop the unit from allowing this.

This way with the unit open and the dummy cassette in you can see thru its top to see if the reels are moving or not and not have the tape get in the way.

I have a Magnavox VCR/DVD dubbing recorder. The problem is that when you play a tape it runs for ten seconds then stops the tape and turns the recorder off. It acts like it thinks it is at the end of

Try switching tapes, it might be wound to tightly. If no other tape available, rewind fully, fastforward fully, and rewind again, just to make sure tension is not from tape. You could also when opening the cassette loader, jst check if if the little wheel and other parts are moving freely.

I've been converting vcr to dvd on my magnavox zv420mw8. Now when I try it won't dub. there is a red circle with a slash thru it in the right bottom corner. I did everything exactly like I've been doing...

It is likely that the vcr tapes have a copy guard preventing you from dubbing, the store bought tapes that were more recent have this, and it is imprinted in the tape itself. The only thing I can suggest is try one of the tapes that were successful, at least this way we will know for sure.

How do i change the drive belt on a magnavox vcr (very smart) #zv420mw8

First you need a service manual second you need a screwdriver, and maybe a magnifying glass, third the belt. (Thats the hard bit) (Also though if the/any belt is of same size & profile and length, then any belt will work) locate the belt, usually have to remove one "End" from something, take out belt, noting how it was, and.or use the manual. Re-thread, and secure the end, and test. manual below. http://www.nodevice.com/manual/newmans/funai/ZV420MW8pdf/get22628.html

No color and sporatic play on VCR mode, with zv420mw8

If this problem happened within a few seconds, you probably have dirty heads. If It happened slowly you could have an alignment problem. Both of these problems should be repair professionally.

Magnavox ZV420MW8

This recorder only records inline. This means that there is no channel on recorder. It records whatever your satellite or cable box is showing. You'll have to change the channel on that.

I don't know that this will work for timed recording. You'll have to make sure that your cable/satellite is on and set to the proper channel before you leave. This wont work if you're recording multiple shows on different channels while you're gone. In that case you may need a different recorder.
