I have a Ferris IS1500Z Lawn mower, fitted with a 21HP Kawasaki engine. It leaks lots of oil on the floor, even when engine is switched off. Where could this oil be leaking from? I cleaned engine of all debris etc and tried looking everywhere but still unable to to find leak. Could someone with experience please help.
It could be your bottom seal, oil filter loose, if it is equiped with an oil cooler it could be one of the lines, clamp, valve cover loose, blown gasket on either the valve cover, crank case..... There are several possibilities. It would be advisable to take it to local repair shop, dealer if under warranty. Always check your oil before starting,,, and if you know its leaking, check at intervals while using it, do not overfill...warning on dipstick.
Its leaking past the crank shaft oil seal on bottom of motor

It is toast you fried the crank/connecting rod, by running it low on oil.
Its hard to say what caused the oil leak, but now it is ruined.

take it to a reputable shop and have them check it over - courage engines had a problem when they first came out - the bolts in the cover plate were not torqued properly and when they come loose, the torque of the engine turning will crack the block - this should be a warranty condition if the block is cracked - just make sure the shop is a kohler warranty station

Smoke white or blue? = oil overfilled possibly.

oil ends up in the muffler if you over fill the oil...re-check the level and adjust as necessary...after that, run it...you need to "burn" the oil residue out of the muffler..
