Radio stopped working possible issues?

I have a after market JVC radio, it has worked fine for months now. However, recently it just randomly shut off and hasn't worked since. I have check all the wiring directly to the radio. Also I have checked the radio fuse and the regular fuse panel radio fuse. Both are fine what else could it possibly be?

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy Suburban radio troubles...

Hi Janie,

If the radio powers up, it's not a fuse problem. At least not with the radio itself. The door locks are most likely unrelated. We can address them separately. One thing at a time though.

My first suggestion would be to check for an engaged mute option. If that isn't it, my 2nd choice is the box that you mentioned, that the radio connects to. That is what is drawing my attention.

However I need to know more.

A bit of Question and Answer is needed to help you out. Just comment me back with the answers. OK?

  1. Make/Model of the replacement radio
  2. Make/Model of the CD player
  3. Make/Model/Nature of the box the radio connects to. Is it an Amplifier? What is it?
  4. Do all the components power up when the radio does?
  5. When you try to play a CD, does it go through the motions, just with no sound?
Get back to me and we'll get you fixed up
Mike

SOURCE: no sound for door chimes or radio

Is the radio stock? If so have you tried getting a different OEM radio?

SOURCE: fuel gauge, temp gauge, and auto door locks stopped working while in transit. checked obvious fuses, found no problems. did not check all fuses. Ideas

I had a similar problem with a 2001 Saturn. We checked every fuse and they were all fine. We finally did a 'reset' on the car's computer by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it a few minutes later. Everything was back to normal after that.

SOURCE: My dash lights don't work.

this got easy after a while 2 ways, i had friends who would not take the time to spend 8dollars to buy a harness connector for a new cd player and would splice everything together like takeing the red and yellow wires and connecting them all together as one. this drains ur battery unless ur cd player can completly power down by the power button not all do... but keep this in mind on GM cars the 2 wires of the same wires like purple the one with a black stripe is ground they go together stripe on stripe also there is 2 extra wires one is ORANGE and BROWN u dont need these dont even mess with them even if u have a connector block them off THESE TWO COLORS IS FOR FACTORY STEREO IF SO THESE WIRES CAN AND WILL MAKE IT SO U DONT HAVE DASH LIGHTS so always buy a connector ond dont mess with these wires block them off and dont ground them out.

JVC KD-HDR44 - Accepts & Ejects CDs, but nothing else including no lighting

Hi,

this could be a compatibility issue with some or all of the parts in your jvc player. I would first call jvc and Toyota to determine whether the player is compatible with the model of the car that you have. I suspect that this is the main issue as your other cd player works fine within the corolla and the jvc player works fine with the xterra.

Thank you.

My alternator for my 2004 Mazda Tribute Wont Charge and My Dash Wont work at all.

it is possible that the after market radio is the problem
unless it is installed correctly it may be draining power from the dash wiring or using that schematics as an earth incorrectly
fitting after market radios in modern cars is not a diy effort as the original radios are now attached to the ECM of the car and fitting the radio incorrectly will cause problems

Suburban radio

Seeing how you have two different issues I would have to say that it is no the antenna but the radio itself. The siris has an antenna jack and the IPod is unrelated to the antenna port. The main board for the radio is out and much easier to replace the radio.

All speakers do not work in my 2010 chevy cobalt but radio turns on

if its the stock radio check the connections on the wiring harness coming off the radio if they are fine then check the speakers themselves the wires are loose just tighten the connections if its not that then look in you owners manuel and see if there is a seperate fuse for the speakers, also its possible but not likely that you speakers are blown, but if they worked before and they just randomly shut off it may just be the connection. if its an after market headunit check all the connections make sure they are tight and secure make sure all of the wires are hooked up correctly. thats all that comes to mind ive never really worked much with newer stock radios hope this helps

2003 Mercury Grand Marquis GS Radio just stopped working, but the CD player still works fine. I checked the (2?) fuses to the radio and they were o.k. What could be causing my problem? Thanks for any...

This is a common problem with this radio. I purchased a used 2003 Grand Marquis and the radio stopped working after a few days. I checked all the usual problems such as faulty antenna and connections. I then looked on line and many others have the same problem with this radio. The only advice is to purchase a used radio from salvage yard the same as the one you have now or you can also go with a good aftermarket radio for around the same price as you are going to pay for a used radio. A used radio would require just removing the radio which is a snap, and then plugging in the replacement radio using the same connections. An after market radio will require adapters and splicing wires. I chose putting in an aftermarket JVC radio and I really enjoy the sound and being able to play cd/mp3's and my ipod through the radio.

My windows and my radio stop workig at the same time!!

Sounds like you could have an issue with a connector going into your BCM or possibly your BCM itself. There is a fusible link that comes off the BCM and it goes to your radio and power windows. Off hand i believe its circuit 75 if you have a wiring diagram and possibly a dark blue wire. On the passenger side kicker panel there is your BCM you can try to wiggle the connector and see if that is it or inside the BCM the solder joints could be going and in that case your screwed.
