Noticed lately that my car smells of sulfur and has a white cloud coming out of tail pipe. It seems to have to rev higher to get to higher speeds. Is this a catalytic converter issue, or o2 sensor, or blown head gasket?
The blown or leaky head gasket ruins the catalytic convertor so running the engine with head gasket continue to leaks creates a secondary problem of the catalytic head gasket
So stop driving the unit get the head gasket and the catalytic gasket replaced
The Smell is-- Sulfur Dioxide-- from an over heated
Exhaust Converter
Yes-- it will be ruined soon
White Smoke all the time, could be a head gasket
It could also be-- lots of fuel-- that is overheating the converter
Have to look at fuel trim on scan tool data
white smoke mostly is caused by over fueling so what i suggest you do is first of all check if there is no leak on the injectors and if there is none which means your valve sterm seals are damaged. When the head gasket is blown out you may have problems like :-loosing power when driving, over heating, idling problems and oil mixing with water, its not your head gasket.
SOURCE: engine idles OK and normal, but when accelerate,
Go with the head gasket or at least intake gasket

You can tell by looking at dip stick if the oil has a creamy white substance there is antifreeze getting in oil (blown head gasket) or if ther is excessive white smoke coming from exhaust pipe upon acceleration. steam from under hood may be a coolant leak from a rubber hose or it may be leaking from the cylinder head onto the exhaust manifold also the car will be using up antifreeze.
SOURCE: white smoke
Sound most likely like a head gasket - Check your coolant level and if low it is possible that coolant is entering into the engine. I would not driving the vehicle as driving the engine would cause more damage.
SOURCE: have a 3.0 liter v6
sounds like a head gasket to me, check the oil and see if there are any signs of water contamination ( milky looking oil -- but this is not always the case ). if the gasket failed between the water jacket and the cylinder then you will just get the ' white smoke '( steam ) coming from the exhaust pipe,, do not run the truck until this is fixed as this can also cause cylinder and rod damage.
