I've tried researching this problem with no success, and the folks at Celestron point me to Orion, and Orion points me to user groups.
I have a 100mm Celestron Starseeker refractor. I got it on ebay for a good price. The original owner said it was gently used, but he wasn't into it so he sold it. But now I'm figuring out why I got it for a good price... Well, I struggled a bit on my own trying to get it to align. I figured I was just dumb and couldn't figure it out. This is my first computerized/motorized scope. So I went to a local star party this past weekend where I asked for help from a guy with a similar goto type telescope.
He confirmed that I have a problem. The problem is that the scope moves fine when using the direction arrows to generally align a star in the finder scope. But when you accept that part and then go to align the star in the eyepiece, the scope lags behind 20-30 seconds before it starts to move. So I guess it's the fine tuning movement that doesn't respond correctly. Even if I "successfully" get the scope to align, if I ask it to go to a chosen database item it doesn't get it right.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a fix? Will Celestron repair or replace it? It's past warranty, so I'm on my own. Thank you.

So where do you live? and where do you want to use it?
You have the instructions? If not I suggest you go to the Orion site and download the manual that come with that scope. If you can read it once from front to back, I will then answer your question.
You can only use the eyepiece marked 20mm. This is a toy not a scope and you will only hate astronomy if you try to use it. The tripod is unstable and the lenses are plastic. Send it back and get a quality scope from Meade, Celestron or Orion. Orion makes a tabletop Dob (only 76mm aperture) for about $60 that is much better quality.
There is an adjustment screw on the focuser, turn it a little to tighten it up.
If this does not work you have two choices- send it back to Celestron to get it repaired,or call them for a replacement focuser.
Some folks might try to open up the focuser to see what is wrong, but I would just send it back before I did this. This is a high end refractor and a high dollar two speed focuser.
Try the thumb screw to tighten it up first before you send it back.
