"You need to get the suffix code off the front pass side, on pad in front of the head. It will be a code thats 6, 7 or 8 digits long. The 1st one will be a letter, next 4 will ne bumbers and last 1, 2, or 3 will be letters.. Like say V0621KH. V0621 if the prefix which tells plant, mo. and day, KH would be the suffix code which tells engine size, HP, induction system, and car it was used in Your 3858180 is not a vin #, it's the casting number and no it does not decode as a corvette. The casting # does not tell what car it was installed in. Its just the size and year range. That # is added before the engine was ever thought of being built and installed. 3858180....327...1964-67...2 bolt main thats all the casting number decodes as."

SOURCE: Misfires when the engine warms up

Hi Ron

Sounds more like the ignition coil pack (coil on plug) that is intermittently breaking down.

Whip out the plugs again, see if you can see one slightly oily, or abnormal.

If so, replace that coil and it should solve your issue.

Hope this is of help.

John.

P.S. Don´t forget to give me a rating please !

SOURCE: 30 amp ignition fuse in engine compartment blows at start

It sounds like a bad ignition switch or something is grounding out.Try to isolate the problem to key positions.See if the fuse blows when you turn the key to ACC(when your dash lights come on without starting)If the fuse does not blow then when you go to start it and it blows it could be one of many problems, the more common ones could be ignition switch, wiring, starter relay, starter soleniod,or perhaps the starter itself is shorting out, this can sometimes happen when a starter goes bad.

SOURCE: To Whom It May Concern: I

Since a small protroded object can alter the aerodynamics of the car, there is some very small object that is sharp enough to let the air whistle as you accelerate. I had a similar fault when an antennae screw stood up but it took me time to confirm very easily as I stuck a bubble gum over the screw and the whistling vanished. I think you must look carefully , use some polish/wax to smoothen any harsh surface , fold the mirror to confirm and try to remove off the sharp edges temporarily to confirm. Hope you try this lead. It is tricky but fun. Good day

My casting number is 3858280 my suffix number is to622ha ive looked this but I cant find out what vehicle it was in thx for any help

Well T means it was built at the Tonawanda plant.
0622 means June 22 and HA means it could have been a 1965 327 or a 1969 350 engine.
There is a 3858180 in the list which is a 1964-1967 327.
No 3858280 in the list.

LOCATION ON ENGINE NUMBER OF KIA SPORTAGE 2005 MODEL

Find the engine identification tag. Attached at the factory, this tag is normally found on the engine block around the coil bolts. The top line of the tag identifies engine size and model year.

Search the block for the engine block casting number. The numbers are raised, not stamped into the block and consist of seven numeric digits. The digits can be located on either side of the block. The seven-digit number may be followed with a dash and further numbers. These are change codes and are not normally necessary to identify the engine.

EX.:

Locate the casting date is located on the block. It is in standard date coding, 2.25.93, for example and may be located on either side of the block, but is commonly located on the driver's side of the block, above the freeze plugs. The example 2.25.93 decodes as February 25, 1993. The casting date may be near the casting clock, which designates the hour the block was cast. Magnum engines were manufactured from 1993 to 2002, so verifying the date code helps identify the engine.

What are the engine codes and what do they stand for? ie: Y= 400 C.I. engine,325 h.p.

What kind of Pontiac engine you have? Is it pre-80's? Pontiac engines have a 2 letter stamp on the front top passenger corner of the engine block. The year is usually next to the distributer hole, and the actual casting number is located on the top rear of block. Some sites offer casting number searches. A good one is wallaceracing.com. They deal with everything from block and cylinder head numbers. If the engine is 1970 or newer, engine size is casted behind the dipstick passenger side of block and also on the front driverside of block too. There are many different variations of codes to list. A example it the engine is made in 1967, casting number is 9786133, code on the right front of block says YE, then it's a 1967 400, that originally had a automatic transmission connected to it, had 10.5 to 1 compression, #066 camshaft, 143 or 061 cylinder heads, 4bbl carb, and 325 horsepower.

Where is the engine number located?

Engine numbers are cast into the block, with all manufacturers finding new ways to hide them. Typically you can find the number on the rear of the engine ( the hardest place to look). The cylinder head also has a cast number on it and those are usually easier to find, commonly being on 1 of the vertical sides or end, although sometimes it is hidden under the valve cover. The head casting should help to ID the engine manufacture date, if that is what you're after. Spraying a rag with carb cleaner and wiping down possible locations will help to highlight the cast number you re looking for. Not all mfrs used cast numbers - some use punch pins to indent the number in the same basic locations and the carb cleaner will help to find those too.

Where do I find the head casting, block casting

the block casting when you are looking at the rear of the engine would be where the bellhousing bolts to the engine on the top-left side of the engine, the head casting should be on the left side head when looking from the back torwards the middle-bottom,and the crank cast should be behind the flywheel on the engine
