SOURCE: I just bought my Garmin Nuvi 200 and just stays black screen?
My Garmin 200 did the same on two occasions. On the bottom to the left of the serial number is a tiny reset button. Press that using a pencil point and all will be reset. And you don't lose any map data, so don't worry!

SOURCE: Garmin 200 won't turn on, flashes "Garmin" screen when plugged in
I connected the unit to the car charger instead of the USB charger and then held down the reset for 10-15 seconds, after which the system would show the computer connection on the charger and then boot up when not on the charger.
