What type of unit? Most units can be hard wired to a regular thermostat but you will need the owners manual to reset the program in the circuit board. The manual can be downloaded from the internet.

SOURCE: LG SPLIT SYSTEM AC.

Fixed fault by not only switching off AC unit at power point, had to pull out plug top & lead from wall for one minute. This must allow electronics to reset.

How can i use my rca remote to my dtv box if my box doesnt have a power button on it to turn it on?

Switch Off the set, at its main AC power switch. Unplug the AC wall socket, and leave it as it is for at least half an hour. This procedure will make the TV to a Hard reset. Now re-plug it to wall power, and switch it ON. Press any button [usually program (+) or program(-) button will power On the TV, and you can see the raster, or the Logo. Now you can program it with any universal remote control, with its set-up codes.
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window" to get gathered related posts.

CANNOT PROGRAM

Do you have a universal remote? Sometimes they will forget their programming, especially when batteries are removed, or get low. If you have the codes and instructions for your remote, I would try reprogramming it. If that doesn't work, take it back to the company that did the cleaning. It worked when you sent it to them, or at least if it didn't this wasn't wrong with it. Seems to me they hold some liability in this, and should make it right without charging you.

The buttons on my air conditioner quit working. It will still turn on and off. It is now set to fan. Will a universal remote work with it? I don't want to spend $75 on a remote(replacement remote) that...

I'm not sure there is a universal remote available for AC units. There may be, I just have not seen one. However, you can still operate the unit without the remote, if you do the following. I'm assuming you have changed the batteries in the remote and they were installed properly (i.e. Facing the right direction) and it still doesn't work or you lost the remote.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it for 15 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, plug the unit back in and turn the ON/OFF switch to ON. The unit should have reverted back to the original factory setup settings. Which should now allow you to operate the unit without the remote, because the controls on the unit should now be activated.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Previous tenant left ac window unit Haier HWF05XC5, but took the remote. Can I manually turn on this ac unit? when turning the power button, only the fan turns on, I'm unable to switch to AC

According to the Model Number you listed, it's a Mechanically or Manually Controlled AC unit. There is no remote control for it.Please be certain the Model Number you listed is correct and get back to me.

If it's the correct model number and it's manually controlled. You should have 2 rocker switches. One is to turn the power ON & Off. The other is to set the Fan Speed either on Low or High. Then there is a dial, numbered 1 to 10 to set the cooling level. 1 is min cool and 10 is Max Cool.

If the controls on your unit match what I described above, it's a manually controlled unit. No remote.

I hope this helped you. Please advise. Thanks.

Please assist I have been given a Hampton Bay model AC-436, but without remote. The fan has 3 wires, ground, white & a black. In my ceiling I have a ground, a black a red & a white. What connects...

Under normal wiring conditions, the black is "power in" to the box. If you have a double switch in the room, it could control the black wire for "power in" to the box and another switch that controls "power in" on the red wire as well. This could have been set up so that one wire controlled a fan and the other wire controlled a light set on the fan. Again, controlled by two switches in the room, most likely in the same wall box. The tiny dip switches are used to set the code for a remote control unit. The dip switches are set the same on the fan and the controller. If you are going to control the fan from a wall switch it should not make a difference as to how the switches are set. If you run into problems, feel free to contact me.
