After removing allen screw how do i separate chuck from drill?

Usually drill motors have a reverse (left) thread retaining screw located in the center of the chuck. The chuck however is typically threaded in the normal right hand configuration. Once the retaining screw is removed place a 1/4" allen wrench short end into the chuck and tighten, next strike the allen wrench with a soft tip mallot (counter clockwise while holding on to the drill motor firmly. This should loosen the chuck, then simply unscrew the chuck by hand. Good Luck!

Set the drill to reverse. Hold the chuck, press the trigger and open the drills chuck to it wide open position. Now,, take the correct size allen wrench and insert it into the back of the chuck to remove the screw. Turn the screw clockwise to remove it. Notice I said clockwise, just the opposite of what you might think. Hold the chuck with your hand or a pair of large vise grips and press the trigger to unscrew the chuck from the drill. Rotate it counterclockwise to remove it from the drill. Reverse the procedure to install the new chuck.

If you mean how to take the chuck off, here you go. Open the chuck jaws all the way. There is a screw at the bottom of the chuck going into the shaft of the drill. If I remember correctly, it is a combination flat, or t30. This screw is reverse thread. Remove it by turning it clockwise. Once the retaining screw is out, get a 3/8 inch allen wrench. tighten the short end into the drill chuck. Lay the drill down on a work bench so that the long part of the allen wrench is hanging off the edge, facing you. The chuck comes off regular thread, so you are going to rotate the allen wrench counter clockwise. They are usually pretty tight. The best way is to put the drill in low range, and hit the allen wrench with a hammer so as to turn the drill chuck counter clockwise. Install the new chuck in reverse order.

The retaining screw at the bottom of the chuck ( down inside where you put the drill bit) is reverse thread. the chuck itself is regular thread. Take out the retaining screw, chuck a 3/8 inch allen wrench ( short side) into the chuck just like a drill bit. Lay the drill down on a work bench with the chuck pointing towards you and the allen wrench clear of the table. Hit the allen wrench with a hammer, ( may take a few tries) in a counter clockwise direction. the chuck should unscrew.

Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. There is no loctite on the chuck threads, only blue loctite on the reverse screw. This is how I remove chucks.

Place drill in vice with chuck in vice facing up . Clamp chuck lightly but with enough force to hold firmly.
put allen wrench in chuck and lightly tap down to make good fit to allen screw head.Clamp chuck jaws down onto allen wrench lightly to hold wrench steady. Take piece of pipe to end of wrench,10".
These chuck screws are tight. Hammer clockwise until screw brakes loose.Open chuck completely and remove screw.Chuck is threaded to spindle shaft . Place allen wrench with long end facing out of tool in chuck and tighten chuck securely. With hammer tap allen wrench sharply counter clockwise ( normal thread.)

Inside of chuck you have a screw, remove screw then tighten an big allen wrench into chuck, short side in, then hold drill and hit allen wrench with a hammer quickly, should break chuck free.

The chuck is screwed on with a normal thread, the screw in the centre (already removed) is left hand thread. Holding the drill with the open end of the chuck facing you, it should unscrew anti clockwise. It might take an impact to start it off. I normally put the gearbox to slow, set the cluth to drill and then holding the drill firmly, hit the allen key against the edge of my workbench. Bring the drill down like a hammer blow so the allen key hits the bench (which should be on your left). I find this more effective than holding the drill on the bench and hititng the allen key with a hammer as it allows for less drill movement at the point of impact.

After removing the screw and inserting the allen wrench shift the drill to the LOW position and turn the clutch to the drill only position. Use an allen wrench about the size of the chuck capacity so that it will not flex when hitting it with a mallet. Sometimes they are stubborn because of the torque but this should work. Put the allen wrench at about a 30deg angle and hit the wrench. I support the chuck on a workbench or a block of wood will do fine. The chuck has standard threads.
