Having had my damn Dell Computer Scammed a few weeks ago I now have hundreds of virus's on my windows XP System. I realise it is out of date and I took the chance of changing our broadband connection so as to change all passwords and bank details etc. However it would seem that those bastards have put a block on our internet and we now don't have any icons on the desktop! I can't boot the computer in safe mode either due to it being hacked.! Please can anyone help only I want to update it to windows 7 or 8. The message that keeps coming up reads The exception unknown software exception (0xc0d007e) occurred in the application (0x7c812fd3). Also I have all my photos of both my 9 year old and 2 year old boys on there stored in Picasso. So I am a bit worried that I have lost them as I can't even see the start up Menu! If anyone can help me pls I would be truely grateful. Kind Regards Amanda

If you have the disk that came with the PC, just re-install it.
Call Dell for help, if you purchase a new hard drive from Dell will walk you thru the installation.
Hope this helps.

Depending on the desktop you could add a new hard drive and make it the OS/Boot drive with Win 7. Your old drive with the pictures on it will become a data drive. If you don't know how to make the new drive the boot drive or the desktop does not have room for a 2nd drive it might be a lot easier to take the old drive and put it in a USB external enclosure.

Malwarebytes is good cleanup utility.

Do not use IE, to many vulnerabilities, Chrome of Firefox is better..

Not sure the connection between changing broadband providers and passwords.....

the last 1/2 of this article will run down a list of files you need to delte to get rid of this nasty little bugger. You can also download various tools to remove it, but it is dependent on your comfort level. if you are comfortable searching for files and changing a couple of registry keys, then by all means, manually is the way to go. If not, you will not have a hard time finding a tool to get rid of this

What with having had my **** Dell Computer Scammed a few weeks ago I now have hundreds of virus's on my windows XP System. I realise it is out of date and I took the chance of changing our broadband c

Two possible solutions, depending on how far you want to go and your level of expertise:
1. Format the entire hard drive and reinstall the OS. If you had backup of all your document, this will be painless. Otherwise, this solution is unacceptable for you.
2. If you still have access to the internet, do the following:
  • Download the latest version of ADWCLEANER.exe and run it. It will search your PC for any possible attackers. Then hit DELETE button and restart your PC.
  • Download, install and update a free Malwarebytes Anti-malware program. Perform quick, or full search (up to you) of your system. restart.

Hi, I am using MSI U100 notebook, having intel atom and windows XP as OS. For the past few days i have a problem and that is my screen resolution is 800 by 600 and i am not able to change to 1024by 80

If this only started a few days ago why not roll your system back to a date before you started having problems?

Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore then select a Restore Point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. System Restore will not delete your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the restore point you selected).

It sounds like you may have a virus or infection that did something to your display driver, and the restore will take care of it.

My computer screen keeps going blue when i start it and saying a problem has been detected and widows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer please help

You may have a virus. You may have corrupted files? Start by trying a Boot in Safe Mode. If that works, while in Safe MOde, Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.
Choose to restore to an earlier time. Pick a date a few days ago when you know it worked fine. Even a week or two ago is fine. Let it do its thing. When it restarts (automatic) hope fully it will be fine. Up date your anti virus and do a full system scan.

Good luck.

Repeating question I wrote a few minutes ago. I have an Asus netbook. 12 months old. Loved it until a few weeks ago. When I am in email (either gmail or hotmail accounts) the netbook no longer keeps up...

I would run Virus Check programs and do a clean up of all temporary files.
I would restore windows to an earlier date, look at restore in the help section.

System restore won't work

Just a thought- go to My computer>click on view system information>system information box, click on system restore, and make sure box is unchecked.
If you have any anti-virus programs like Norton, Macafee or AVG, disable them if you can, as well as any non-Windows firewall programs.
If you can remember recently downloading any other program that might interfere with system restore- anti virus or otherwise- then delete or disable that too.
