With or without cloths in it, it rotates heats but then starts thumping and a smell like burning hair comes up what could be wrong, on the drum is there supposted you be one big belt on the back and a 1/4 belt on the drum its self or has one snapped i need help im a car guy not a dryer guy

usually whin you get one thump (or a quick double thump) you have a dent in the roller surface of the drum itself. Easiest way to check this is to unplug the unit and take the top off by removing the 3 torx screws in the rear, then lifting the top off. Once the top is off look at the very front edge of the drum as you rotate the whole thing by hand. If you see any irregularities on the surface, thats your problem. If you see nothing it could be a bad motor or roller, but its unlikely if its happening in the same place on the rotation evry time. What has usually happened with dents in the surface of the drum is that the unit was set down too hard (or dropped) and the wheels it rests on dented the metal they ride on. If thats the case the only solution is to replace the drum or live with it .Good Luck!

which pulley came off the one on the motor, or the Idler wheel that keeps tension on the belt. You probably will need a belt

Have you checked your outside vent while it was running to see if the dryer was venting 100%. If your clothes are hot and humid I would say clean your vent pipe has a blockage and needs to be cleaned out. Also as far as the burning smell you could take the front off (unplug first) the dryer of by removing 4 screws one above and one below the latch and two at the bottom and there are two clips one at the top left and right push in with a puddy knife and lift the top up a couple inches and lift the front up off the bottom holders. Then you will have access to vacuuming the lint that is floating around the burner.

To replace the belt unplug the dryer, remove the lint filter, remove the 2 philip head screws, with a stiff putty knife pry up in the top of the cabnet on the right and left to litf the top, disconect the door swithch remove the screw from each side and lift the front off romove the old belt the reinstall put new belt around the drum groove side toward the drum. put the idler pully in the slot closest to the motor be sure the tab is under the base and the 2 catches stit in the slot. now pull the belt through the idler pully and around the motor shaft. the reinsatll the front secure with the screws reconect the door switch, close the top, put the 2 screws back in where the lint filter goes then put in lint filter, plug in dryer and test.

Hi, You need to check and see if the belt has slipped off of one of the pulleys. Was the idler the wheels style or a glide style?
Make sure the grooves in the belt are facing the drum and they are in the grooves of the motor pulley.
Please let me know if this helps and if I can assist you further.
