I repair electronics professionally. I have repaired dozens of PRM-25 projectors that give a color wheel error. The problem is usually not that the color wheel is broken, but that the color wheel cannot spin, because so much dust has collected inside the projector.
What I do is open the case, and carefully blow out all of the dust with an electric duster. While I have the projector open, I also take out the two fans that come out easily (one is on the side, near the lens. The other is next to another fan, but it's the one towards the back of the projector). I clean those separately, and I even use a detail brush to get into each fan blade. I also put the duster nozzle into the blower vent and blow it out.
TIP: Be careful! the color wheel is made of very delicate glass.

The Mitsubishi HC3800 projector uses a color wheel with the model number VLT-HC3800LP. This is the original color wheel that is designed specifically for the HC3800 projector, and it should be able to replace the existing color wheel in your projector. It is important to use the correct color wheel for your projector to ensure optimal performance and avoid any damage to the projector.
You can purchase the VLT-HC3800LP color wheel from Mitsubishi authorized resellers or from the Mitsubishi website. You can also check for other electronic resellers or online marketplaces for availability and pricing. I recommend you to confirm with the seller that the part is compatible with your specific projector model and serial number, before making the purchase.
It's also important to mention that, replacing the color wheel should solve the noise issue you're experiencing. But, it's always recommended to check the projector warranty status, or if the projector is out of warranty, consult with a professional technician before attempting to replace any part of the projector.
Make sure projector is unplugged and cooled down, lamp can be very hot
Remove the cover over lamp area
There are 3 screws in lamp unit (they have little arrows that point to them even) or check against new lamp to make sure you take out the correct ones
Pull straight up, place new lamp in securely and screw back down (screws are attached to each lamp set)
Place cover back over lamp area and screw closed
Reset lamp hours by hooking up your computer to board
Get to lamp reset screen
Press down up left right arrows in sequence then press return button in middle
If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
The Lamp
If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
Color Wheel
If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.
Baily, I have had my HC1500U color wheel replaced two times due to the color wheel's unpleasant "buzz saw" effect showing up every few thousand hours of usage. It is happening again for the third time and I am still within Coscto's warranty so I am going to have it replaced again...will never buy a DLP projector again...too many moving parts that can break!
Would love to be able to replace it myself if you ever find a place that sells the color wheel.
The color wheel has failed in youtr projector. There are 4 pieces of glass in the color wheel which fit togeter in a "pie" formation and they are red, blue, yellow & clear. This wheel is spun by a motor. The glass is glued to the motor's hub, and, when it fails the glass segments are thown off the hub. This gives you a B&W picture because all of the light is allowed to shine through the optics all of the time. Replace the color wheel with Toshiba part no: 23125963. It will be about $65. No soldering is involved, just use care with the ribbon cable to the motor. You will need a no. 2 phillips screwdriver and a set of jeweles screwdrivers to do this.
