Someone dropped my motorcycle while it was parked in the street Apparently they wanted to take a picture on it and managed to drop it Since then I had a variety of problems some which are probably not related to it being dropped The biggest problem that I have noticed is that my bike a 2009 R6 does not accelerate how it use to after 3rd gear Instead of taking off when hitting the throttle it just makes a lot of noise and accelerates very slowly The noise it makes sounds just like as if it were accelerating rapidly but the bike is actually slowly gaining speed This happens in all gears but most notibly 3rd In addition to that I have been losing fuel very quickly I would fill the tank in the morning and after riding 30-40 miles the light will be back on I have not noticed any spills whasover The last problem is the rattling noise that it now makes which happened immediately after the bike was dropped Michael

Probably a stuck needle valve Float. Your engine is flooding on one side bogging it down. Depending on your carbs it could be a bent constant velocity rod/pin (same thing really). The racket may be coming from the bad carb trying to stabilize with a bent rod.

SOURCE: Engine Making Noise when accelerating

Could be carbon build-up on the pistons, causing erratic flame travel in the combustion chamber... 'pinging'...... Decarbon the engine and use a high grade fuel for a few tanks.... also an octane booster can help

SOURCE: High pitched electronic/dentist drill sound when accelerating.

Probably the front differential, your probably hearing the famous differential gear whine. Change the oil, put Lucas for gears in it. You can get a hand operated oil pump to **** it out through the dip stick if it has one. Then fill it with the recommended amount.

SOURCE: Loss of acceleration. Transmission? Clutch? Cable?

Try replacing the clutch cable first, these cars came with a simple clutch cable that is cheap & easy to replace. the end that hooks to the clutch pedal is plastic & can wear out. the later VW golfs came with an expensive automatically adjusting clutch cable. these can be installed in older VW's.

the old cables had to be manually adjusted like a motorcycle clutch cable. check a vw service manual. there needs to be a bit of slack on the lever that pushes the clutch disk.
if it is too tight the clutch may not engage fully & you will cook the clutch & flyweel.

Also check the shift linkages, there are many plastic bushings in the system that wear out
and can make the shifting sloppy. these are cheap and easy to replace.

Personally I have not had any real problems with the 5 speed transmissions in VW's.
although I have hear of a variety of problems with latter VW's trashing the transmissions. The automatics are another story.
The 020 transmissions were built to handle the 75hp/ 1800lb Schricco. putting them in a
Golf GTI with 150hp, or a 3000lb jetta 3 caused lots of problems.

ps: I would pick up a cheap used 5 speed from a junkyard, preferably out of a Rabbit, not
a golf or Jetta. take it to a machine shop to check for the usuall problems to see if it ok
before installing it. If that fixes the problem get your money back from the people that sold you the rebuilt transmission.

if the truck feels like,
the more gas you give it the slower it goes,
you might want to check for a converter plugging up.

Car keep rolling when having it park

Cable could be stretched, not letting it go into park. Disconnect the cable at the transmission and put it in park. If it parks, replace the cable. If it still doesn't It could 1 or 2 springs that broke, inside the transmission. 1 is accessible by pulling the pan and dropping the valve body. The other you have to drop the transmission and tear it down. This just a couple. There are many out there you have to drop and tear down. Year make and model helps.

EF FALCON STATION WAGON, 815,000.00KM. RECON ENGINE DONE ONLY 10, 000 KM, UNDER EXTENDED 3 YEAR WARRANTY, BLACK SMOKE ON ENGINE START UP WITH BLACK SMOKE & ENGINE ROUGH RUNNING AS THOUGH ONLY ON 5 OF 6...

recon job poorly done. sounds like a gasket or engine/tranny seal. is there moisture droplets on the oil dipstick? How often do you change the oil? if you change it every 3 thousand miles or 3 months faithfully, and it is not leaking oil (you see no puddles under the car) onto your driveway or street where you park it, and there are no globs of black gunk on the underside of your car anywhere, then someone could have dropped something into the engine compartment somehow, through one of the spark plug holes, when the oil cap was off, etc.

I poured coolant into the radiator and it just leaked out onto the street. What are the potential problems?

most likely it is just a busted lower radiator hose and $10 would fix it, but could certainly be more serious. Have someone watch for where it comes out when you pour it in if you want a better repair estimate.

What is involved in dropping the gas tank so I can replace or clean the fuel sending unit?

not too bad as long as you lines and straps are in good shape. dis connect battery first. you will need to remove fuel filler tube, electric connector fuel lines and vent line , un- do tank straps. you need to get the car up high enough to drop tanks and helps if you have someone to muscle the tank up and down with you. hope you do not have much gas in tank. also do not try to clean sending unit. just replace it. you do not want to do it twice. take care not to break any wires of fuel lines.

The idle drops when i put it in gear almost stalling the engine

That is normal, in park or neutral there is no resistance on the engine when you put it in gear there is resistance because the car wants to move. Also when you turn on the ac that turns on the compressor that is run off the belts of the engine so it puts more resistance on the engine. Low idle is not a problem unless the engine dies.

Quick and easy attempt to fix might be to try some fuel injector cleaner, the purple bottle stuff I put in, is only about $3 a bottle, and seems to eliminate similiar symptoms brought on by bad gas.
