Black screen on mu compaq R3000

You most likely shorted out the memory module on the board. You are going to need a new motherboard

remove the battery from bottom, plug into ac power pack, and try it that way

give ram and the pc usage a rest then when you open it it will be blank again so while it is open take of the bettery and put it againand turn on the labtop and you will see options like start the pc in safe mode with command propt. or start in safe mode with net working.and the last one is start in safe mode.When you look down you will see start windows normally.PRESS ON IT!.and the laptop should start again

make sure you have no disc in a drive no usb sticks or any removeable storage!!!Then try again.

suspected hard disk faulty or OS corrupted.
to check, take out your hard disk and put it in other laptop. if the problem persist your OS is corrupted. In that case, you need to reformat your OS in a defaulty factory settings.

Check what the beep code means for this model. Maybe a memory failure or dirty memory connector.

Give this a try -

1. Remove all USB devices such as printers, mp3 players etc etc.
2. Remove the power-cable and the battery
3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
4. Put the power-cable back in but not the battery and none the USB devices.
5. Turn the computer on

Sounds like the auto-dim in the BIOS is set too low. Fortunately the Compaq R3000 allows you to adjust the brightness right from the keyboard. Hold down the [FN] function key while tapping the [F8] key will brighten the screen, while [FN]-[F7] will dim it. The settings are different for running on AC power and battery, so you must do each individually.

press F8 while your computer starts up then and then use the safe mode to start your computer in then once it starts you can do a ststem retore just follow the instructions on the screen once it starts it will give you the option to start your computer in safe mode just click yes, try that
