There is a big difference between hibernate and sleep mode. One will not wake just by opening the lid. You can get a full answer from this web site:

SOURCE: I INSTAL NEW WINDOW XP

If you head here (on a friends PC or one in an internet cafe or library),
1. Scroll down and click on 'XP 32'
2. I recommend that you download all the drivers shown to a memory stick.
3. Copy and paste all these drivers from the memory stick onto the desktop of your MSi laptop
4. Install them all one-by-one.
After restarting you should be able to use your laptop as normal.
