The belt expands when it gets warm and causes it to make noise. Time to replace the belt.

It sounds as if the belt is dry. Belts dry out after a certain amount of time and then start to make chirping noises. If the belt is not badly cracked, you can try using a belt lubricant spray. These sprays usually only last for a short period of time, though.

Try slipping the drive belt (fan belt, alternator belt, or whatever you want to call it) off the engine, then run the engine momentarily without the belt. If the noise disappears, at least you now know it is not an internal engine problem, and it will be an issue with one of the pulleys, or belt-driven accessories.

Make noise not all the time but squiky the noise com fron the alternator scho 2000 automatic., Noise some times stars when air condtioned is on or fan on

Are you in a state where it gets pretty cold in winter? You may have a component in the belt system about to seize up.That happened to me when I lived in NY.I heard a squeak for a while, then 1 day the belt broke.I replaced it,drove about 10 miles and it broke again. My a/ccompressor had seized. You may just need a belt but if you are going to self-repair,draw a diagram of the belt loops and after you take off the belt, turn all components and they should turn slightly freely, yet still kind of difficult, sorry it is hard to explain though.Inspect your belt for many small, slightly widening cracks,or larger cracks,or fraying on the edges. You will not be able to turn the engine belt drive.Good luck! Slight squeeky noise when I turn the steering wheel and a little more stiff to turn.

Hi the steering pump uses a belt to drive it, when this gets stretched it will slip, oil can also get on the belt causing it to slip, so check the belt, make sure it is tight and free from oil, also make sure the power pump reservoir has oil at the same time

Hyundai Accent 2001 making a loud-fan-like noise

POWER STEERING PROBLEM - CONTAINER CONSIST TWO LEVELS. SHOULD THE BOTTOM PART BE THE NORMAL COLOUR OF THE FLUID AND THE TOP PART APPEARS TO BE DIFFERENT THEN REMOVE THE CONTAINER AND CLEAN PROPERLY AS THERE IS A SIEVE BETWEEN THE TWO LEVELS WHICH IS BLOCKED. DRAIN OIL FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND REFILL WITH NEW OIL.
iF BELTS WERE RECENTLY CHANGED THEN THE PROBLEM MIGHT LY BY ONE OF THE PULLEYS THAT IS WARN. MEANING THAT THE BELT INBEDDS TO DEEP INTO THE PULLEY AND CAUSE THE BELT TO SQUEL. SHOULD YOU POUR WATER ONTO THE BELT WHILE IT IS SQUELING IT PROVES THAT IT IS EITHER THE BELT THAT NEEDS REPLACELMENT OR ONE OF THE PULLEY PROVIDING THE BELT TENSION IS INSPECT
