Tyre Pressure and ABS

Hi guys ive got the tyre pressure warning light on my 2000 Corolla 1500, but this light comes on and stays on similtaneously with the ABS warning light. Any ideas on what the cause of this might be, and if so whats the way forward with the problem? Thanks much appreciated.

By operating the tire pressure warning system reset switch, tire pressure warning system ECU can be set to issue a warning at an inflation pressure that corresponds with the type of tires.
Operate the tire pressure warning system reset switch only after the inflation pressures of all 4 tires have been adjusted on the vehicle.
To initialize the system, press and hold the tire pressure warning system reset switch for 3 seconds or longer with the power switch turned IG-ON. When starting the initialization, the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times at 0.5 Hz.
During the initialization, the tire pressure warning system valve & transmitter measures the inflation
pressure of the tires, and registers the signals that are transmitted into the ECU at a frequency of 1 per
minute. The initialization process is completed when the signals from the tires have been received.
Once the tire pressure warning system reset switch has been pressed, do not turn the Ignition switch OFF for a few minutes.

SOURCE: Recommended tyre pressures (touring) for 1987 Corolla FX

Tyre pressures are partly determined by the tyre manufacturer, partly by the weight you are carrying and partly by the type of driving. When you are touring, up the pressure by about 5 pounds from that recommended. On the average, I would have 37lbs in the front tyres (front wheel drive) and 35lbs in the rear for motorway driving. This will keep the tyres a little cooler.

SOURCE: 1998 RAV4 TYRE PRESSURE??

Thomas Heime is wrong, wrong, wrong! That is the max. pressure that the tyre can handle! the proper tyre pressure is written below the latch on the passenger side door. Open the passenger door, look at the label below the latch and there it is.

SOURCE: What is the tyre size of Toyota Starlet car and what is the tyre?

The tire and that is on it, we'll have the size listed on the side wall. It usually looks like 185/60 R14 or 195/75 R13 or some variation on the numbers but basically in that format. The question is, what size did it come with, what size does it have now, what size do you want to be on there. A seasoned tire store veteran can tell you all of the different variations on size that will fit your car. By a you can select a tire size and type based on ride comfort, winter or wet traction, high speed performance etc. If the tire pressure will also be listed on the sidewall usually in pretty darn tiny letters. Generally 35 PSI that is the Max. 32 usually gives a comfortable ride. air compressors that you can plug in your series cigarette lighter are less than 20 bucks and have a gauge. My tire pressure warning light is on saying underinflated pressure although I checked the tiresand the pressure and they were OK. The warning light remains on. How do I fix this?

Had the same problem with my 2006 passat, there is a tyre pressure button on the lower central console on the drivers side of the gearstick, make sure your tyres are at the correct pressure first, then with the engine running press in this button and hold it in for about 10 seconds, this will reset the tyre pressure warning to the pressure that is currently in the tyres

I have a orange warning light flasing on my mini cooper 51 plate and i do0nt no wat it is can u help?? the symbol has a (!) on it? there is a button with the exact same symbol under my handbrake

This is the tyre pressure indicator. It shows that one of the tyres is losing pressure through a calve leak or puncture, or can also be triggered after you get new tyres or rotate the tyres.

The method to re-set the tyre pressure warning light is as follows:

Turn the ignition to position 2 (ignition on but motor not started). Press and hold the button under the handbrake until the warning light on the dashboard comes on for several seconds. Start the engine. Drive the car normally for several minutes. This will cause the system to re-set to the current tyres and pressures you have. It will then only turn the warning light on if the pressures change - for example if you get a puncture.

Dash warning light has come up on my vw eos, looks kinda like a horsehoe with an exclamation mark, any ideas?

if yellow this is most likely your tyre inflation indicator warning.
this means that one or more of your tyres has defated or inflated outside expected limits (do not worry)
1. check your tyre pressures are correct.
2. switch on the engine and let light come on.
3. press and hold the reset button with the same horseshoe icon which is situated near your gear lever in the middle console after several seconds the light should go and and your tyre pressure warning system is reset and ready for any change in prssure. if this does not work consult your nearest certified VW dealer they will be happy to assist.

Ever since i changed the wheels on my 2004 ford explorer my tyre monter warning light stayes on has any body got any i dears

It depends on the type of pressure monitor system that is used.

Some work off the ABS sensors, measuring the rotation speed of the wheels (if a wheel slows down it indicated the tyre pressure is low.) It is possible that a different wheel / tyre size could require the system to be reset / recalibrated.

More common is to have a set of sender units mounted inside the tyre (usually forming part of the valve assembly.) Did you transfer the sender units from your old wheels to your new ones? This could well be the problem.

Hope this helps!

Run flat tyre warning light is on i have checked tyre pressure

This will only come on when a tyre has dropped in pressure (not spare). It work on the principle that a tyre with less air has a smaller rolling circumference and therefore a different wheel speed. This is then monitored against other signals from other wheels and determined that a loss in pressure has occured.

If all tyre pressures seem ok, there could be a chance of a small unoticeable leak and would require a bath test. This is when the tyre is dipped in water and bubbles would appear where the puncture is.

Ultimately the system may just need to be reset, or has incorrectly been reset from a tyre change. For this you just press and hold the TPC button (located on the centre console above the gearstick - looks like a flat tyre with an exclamation) turn on the ignition to position 2 and the light will come on re then yellow,go out, come back on yellow. When it comes back on yellow it re-initializing the system. You can let go of the button and after 20 odd seconds the light will go out for the final time, completing the reset.

If the light continues to come on after the reset then you definitely have a puncture somewhere!

Hope this helps!

I have a tyre warning light come on, i have inflted tyre but i dont know how to turn off warning light?

Hi,
After you have inflated all tyres to the correct pressures, Turn ignition key to position 2 , and find the "Set" button. Press this for 20 seconds , and the warning should dissapear.

It spots a difference in rotation from the ABS sensors, and issues a warning if it is significantly different.

I have a CLK200 Convertable with tyre pressure warning on

The light is coming on because ither your tires need to be checked for an under inflated tire, or your pressure sensor inside your tire is bad. Any major tire shop should have a reader to tell if you have a faulty sensor. Your tire pressure that the factory reccomends should be located on your driver's door or door frame on a sticker tag.
