just now i have updated the OS of my P990i.
its very simple.
Go to sony ericssons website http://www.sonyericsson.com/
Search for the software update service for P990i there.
Entire procedure is listed there ........

You can have the settings sent to your phone from the Sony Ericsson site here. Just pick your phone, country and mobile operator and enter your phone number to receive the settings directly to your phone.
