There are no print outs for inverters. Your best shot is take the number off the part and Internet Hunt. I know it's sad, but that's the way some manufacturers want it. I have to do it every day.

If you have an image on ..but just shadows it is the inverter to blame and Im not sure it is from a cut-wire..so ..I suggest to get a new inverter and install it cause it is not very expensive and this way you will avoid any improvisations that may cause future issues ..(inverter back-light )
Inverter board. would need to see a picture of the inverter board to know if it has a OZ960 chip on it. If it does then it's an easy fix if you know how to use a soldering iron. IF it DOES have this chip solder an led from pin 10 to pin 16 of that chip. if you need the pinout of it type OZ960 pdf into google.
I have seen this happen before. If the inverter you installed is not from the exact model HP then the pinouts on the signal cable going to the motherboard are not correct. There are several inverters that use the same connector but are not interchangable. I would get another inverter that is for that model and I bit it will fix your machine.
