it is depend up on the power supply connector and it will give the output according to the smps you can do one thing try with installing other fan and see is it in perfect rotation. bye

mine was do- the same. pin 2 is next to the dim slots its white. i con-ed a 12 fan to it. the fan dont spin i dont get the mess any more i am look for the book to get the jumper set- as well. so i can take the fan off. small 12 v fan

A few suggestions:
1) Here is a link to your computer manual: HP7100SFF Manual Check out pages 2-7 to 2-11 for some general information and pictures.
2) Go to www.crucial.com and run their Scan to detect your system's current configuration and to what extent you can upgrade. (Type of RAM and maximum that can be installed.)
3) If you would like some other audio/visual help, go to www.youtube.com and search for "Installing RAM". There are numerous videos available to view.

sounds like you have your answer, your computer is hosed. unless you want to keep swapping parts to try to see if it's memory or cpu, I'd just get a new motherboard/cpu/ram combo (they've come a long way since you got that computer, I'll bet)
