How can I operate the equipment safely?

Just a few I can think of off the top of my head .

Do not over feed shredder - too thick = bad
avoid paper clips and staples going in
Avoid neck ties scarfs near shreder when other end around a neck
Avoid loose clothing near device that can fall into device.
Avoid plastic going in shredder
Make sure waste bin is not full before and while using device otherwise can strain motor.
Do not put water in device or wet paper
Do not operate near water or in rain
do not run shreder on wrong voltage and frequency check voltage from power point matches voltage and frequency required by shredder
do not put tree branches in shredder if designed for paper shredder
do not put cardboard in shedder

If paper gets stuck in shredder use reverse button and remove and try again with less paper . Do not forced shredder to drag paper through it.

Why does not it shred and does not shut off

Although I am not familiar with that brand of shredder, they are basically all the same. Assuming you have an "auto feeder", there is a small "switch" just below the slot that you insert the paper that "activates" the cutters when it detects paper (or anything) that is inserted into the opening.

I am guessing that some paper or other object has caused the switch to be pushed back and it does not release. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE SHREDER FROM THE ELECTRICAL SOURCE, then lift the top of the shredder off the basket or container. Clean out any paper debris and you should see the "switch". I use a bent paper clip to clean around it and pull the switch out.

Replace the unit on top of the basket (be sure it is facing the correct direction) and plug it back into the electrical.

If that does not solve our problem, you can go their web site for assistance:

Sherder also cus off on shreder has no cutting power &no suction

Hi - Shredders don't have suction, but if the blades have gone dull, it can't pull the paper in because it can't cut it. Try one sheet or even half a sheet.

The other possibility is that you are not putting the paper against the paper sensor or the sensor is brokern or blocked. This sensor is usually in the center of the shredder slot. Test it by putting a piece of paper a bit down and seeing if the "on" light comes on.

If the blades are dull, it is probably cheaper to get another shredder on craigslist or staples. I don't know, but am assuming this is a small home office unit.

If the sensor is not working, you can try to clear it.

Investment in repair depends on investment in the scanner. Tell me more and i'll try to research it a bit.

Paper jam. Ready lite comes on but shreder will not start shreding

Common problem with paper shreds blocking the sensors on top and bottom of cutter asm. You may have to remove the top of unit to properly clean. When removing top, be very careful with the short ribbon cable. Lift top slowly and then reach under and disconnect from main board. Once top is off, you can cycle motor by hand and try to remove shreds with needle nose pliers. Of course, disconnect power first.

I have a SX102M paper shreder that wont shrede

It's the paper sensing microswitch. Wire a small toggle switch and drill a small hole for it on the far right side of the top housing. Just remember that the switch has to be turned off when you are finished shredding or the motor will keep running till it burns out
