2000 Isuzu Rodeo Stalls without warning or other "symptoms"

I have an Isuzu Rodeo that randomly stalls without any warning, noise, lights, indicators or symptoms that it is going to do so. In fact, I had it stall out on the freeway and I didn't even realize it until I noticed that I couldn't steer (scary). Once pulled off the road, car starts up and runs just fine for weeks, months until it does it and startles me once again.

I've heard everything from it could be fuel filter, bad sensor or even the 3rd party alarm that is installed (I'm not original owner) but have no idea.

Hello, more than likely it is a fuel filter or a loose battery cable, the filter is maintanance and should be changed regardless, good luck...marty

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo, V6. The car stalls at

it's the EGR valve and can be fixed by anyone. It involves disconnecting the battery, remove electrical connection, and removing 2 screws and cleaning the surface area well and replacing it as well as the gasket. A new EGR valve runs around $120 and trust me you can fix this and save hundreds!

Unstable RPM - is this also a safety issue??

yes here is the common problem

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
