Kenwood KDC-MP333 in-car head unit

I've recently bought a car with this Kenwood head unit in it, I'd say by the dodgy in the door it was a very bad home job but it's been working alright but now the screen comes up with "Protect" on it. I turned it off and took the face plate off then tried again to no avail. I even disconnected the battery and still it wouldn't reset. What can I do?

U have to press the little reset button on the lower right of the face plate. it does this when a speaker wire shorts out to ground so check all ur connections and make sure there are no bare wires touching the vehicle body

Hi , i have bought a car with kenwood kdc-mp333 audio player. i get an error protect all the time i turn it on. could u tell me how to solve this problem

More then likely it has an anti-theft system built into the radio. They only thing you can do is try to contact the previous owner if that isnt possible look for a really small reset button.

I have a Kenwood KDC 135 car stereo wont un mute.

behind the face plate there is a little recessed reset button. push it using the tip of a pen or similar. that will fully reset the radio to like it was when you bought it.

Some times head units hicup. this is how you reset it. In most error cases this solves the problem.

Security code Lockout

I had a similar issue with a head unit in a newer Volkswagen. There was an unlock code burried in the vehicle's owners's manual.

Since your stero is an aftermarket model, I would bet the unlock code is in the manual for the head unit.

Kenwood kdc-mp528 amp/speaker problem???

This is a common mistake. This problem indicates that you are using the solid blue wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on on the amp. This is a power antenna wire that only receives power when on FM radio. You need to replace this with the Blue & White wire from the head unit (power control wire) to your remote turn-on on your amp. This should solve your issue.
