Reverse and Forward Mode: Try putting the drill in reverse mode and hit the trigger, then forward mode. If that doesn't work, tap the tip on the driveway but don't slam it. It should release .
Use a Wrench: First, make sure that the chuck is in the locked position. Next, use an allen wrench to loosen the set screw on the side of the chuck. Finally, unscrew the drill bit from the chuck .
Remove Chuck Collar: Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the chuck collar and remove it from the chuck. Then, use a screwdriver or other tool to remove the chuck jaws and any other components that may be blocking access to the stuck drill bit. Once these components are removed, you should be able to access the drill bit and remove it from the chuck .
To remove the chuck from a Wilmar KFF-6 drill, follow these steps:
Turn off and unplug the drill.
Locate the chuck key that came with the drill.
Insert the key into the chuck and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the jaws of the chuck.
Remove the chuck key from the chuck.
Grasp the chuck with one hand and hold the handle of the drill with the other hand.
Turn the chuck counterclockwise to remove it from the spindle.
If the chuck is stuck and won't loosen, you may need to apply some penetrating oil to the threads and let it sit for a few minutes before attempting to remove the chuck again. You can also try using a rubber mallet to gently tap the chuck counterclockwise to loosen it.
How to Remove Drill Chuck
If there is screw in inside center of chuck remove it, it is probably left hand threads so pretend you are tightening it and it will come free. open chuck fully and insert chuck key into holes and hit it with a hammer to remove it.
look inside the center of the chuck... if the is a bold inside, remove it. then place the short side of a 3/8" allen key into the chuck and tighten the chuck... then smack the allen key from the side with a hammer the same direction as forward rotation...
With the chuck open as far as possible, look within the jaws of the chuck for a bolt or screw head that attaches the chuck to the shaft. Remove the bolt/screw and remove the chuck. Some chucks can also be screwed onto the shaft, so look for signs of threads at the base of the chuck. Otherwise, once the bolt/screw is removed, tap along the outside around the chuck with a plastic hammer to loosen the chuck. Penetrating oil will help. Take your chuck with you to a "big box" type hardware store, where a replacement should be available. Any well stocked hardware store should be able to help you. I have found that the somewhat smaller hardware stores are usually staffed with knowledgeable persons, and getting a replacement ordered is easier. One is more likely to be stocked in the larger stores. The name brand of the chuck isn't as important for a replacement as is the correct shaft size and style of fit. Best regards, --W/D--
To remove your chuck, open the jaws of the chuck fully, but don't open them so tight that they lock in the open position. Remove the screw inside the chuck. Spray the inside of the chuck with penetrating oil. Tap around the edge of the chuck, while pulling it away from the motor. It should come right off, with a little effort.
You need to open the chuck and remove the bolt from the bottom of it[usually a #2 phillips].The next step is to insert a 5/16 allen wrench into the chuck and tighten the chuck.Hold the drill with the chuck facing away from you then strike the allen wrench with a hammer on the right side[so it goes down] and now you will be able to remove it by hand, good luck.
There is a left handed screw down at the bottom of the chuck. I believe it is a flathead screw. You need to make sure you are in the lowest gear and turn that screw clockwise. It seems odd, but turning to the right will loosen the chuck screw. Once the chuck screw is removed then you need to remove the chuck from the spindle. Remove the chuck like a regular screw. It has regular threads and should be removed by turning it counterclockwise. Good luck
Place drill in vice with chuck in vice facing up . Clamp chuck lightly but with enough force to hold firmly. put allen wrench in chuck and lightly tap down to make good fit to allen screw head.Clamp chuck jaws down onto allen wrench lightly to hold wrench steady. Take piece of pipe to end of wrench,10". These chuck screws are tight. Hammer clockwise until screw brakes loose.Open chuck completely and remove screw.Chuck is threaded to spindle shaft . Place allen wrench with long end facing out of tool in chuck and tighten chuck securely. With hammer tap allen wrench sharply counter clockwise ( normal thread.)
