FujiFilm S5100 camera. Have 512 xD card and 126 xD card. Have always worked. 126 has pics on it yet. I can retrieve them on to my computer, but not delete. In camera I get "card not initialized" w/ 126 card. No functions on camera work w/ 126 card in.

I appreciate all the help. However, the problem was solved when I loaded the pictures into my laptop, checked the box which said 'delete after loading', which it did, then I put the card back into my camera, and voila, everything was A-OK. Thanks, again.

Check you user's manual to see what the max size capacity card you can use in your camera...
finepix has a little trouble with the bigger cards...

Perform a "format" from the setup menu on your smaller memory card. It will erase everything on the card, including images and any bad data. You will be starting with a "clean slate".

My FujiPix S700 is flashing card not initialized

If you have a new xD-Picture card that says "card not initialized" go to set-up and when it says "format OK? Erase All Data" press the triangle on the left of the menu/ok circle so it goes to "OK" then it will change to an hour glass going up and down until it stops and MAGIC! the card is initialized, at least it worked for this time for me.

Initializing card

Thanks but I realised there must be a way of formating the card and through searching the the cameras functions eventually came across the right path - but it was not straightforward.

Card not initializing

Initializing (or formatting) the card, by definition, removes all data (this includes pictures) from the card. When formatting a memory card, by all practical purposes you are making it blank.
Hope this helps.
