Hitachi 50hyt62u H can I add a removable drive as I have a slot in Back for one, and if so where do I get one

You should be able to buy an external USB drive (or thumb drive) at any electronics store.
You can connect a USB hard disk drive or USB
memory stick to your TV by using the USB inputs of
the TV. This feature allows you to play files stored in
a USB drive. 2.5" and 3.5" inch (hdd with external
power supply) external hard disk drives are supported.
IMPORTANT! You should back up your files before
making any connections to the TV set in order to
avoid any possible data loss. Manufacturer will not
be responsible for any file damage or data loss. It is
possible that certain types of USB devices (e.g. MP3
Players) or USB hard disk drives/memory sticks may
not be compatible with this TV.
Quickly plugging and unplugging USB devices, is a
very hazardous operation. Do not repeatedly quickly
plug and unplug the drive. This may cause physical
damage to the USB player and USB device itself. Do
not pull out USB module while playing a file.
Media Browser Menu
You can play photo, music, and movie files stored
on a USB disk by connecting it to your TV and using
the Media Browser screen. To do this, perform the
following: Connect a USB disk to one of the USB
inputs located on the side of the TV.
You can connect two USB devices to your TV. If both
USB devices include music, picture or video files, USB
selection OSD will be displayed on the screen. The
first USB device connected to the TV will be named
as USB Drive1. Select a device by using up or down arrows
and press OK

I cant play movies using my USB drive on my Samsung LCD tv model LA40D503F7R. Movies option on screen is not displaying, only music and pictures option is displaying

Nope, you certainly can't. The TV can only show still photos or play music. It's not capable of playing videos.

The manual is here:
http://www.samsung.com/ae/support/model/LA40D503F7RXZN
or
2011 LA40D503F7R 40 Inch Full HD LCD TV LA40D503F7RXZN Support SAMSUNG Gulf
See pages 16 and 17.

Burn your movies to DVD or Blu-Ray and you can plug a player into the TV, also described in the manual.

Hi. would like to watch movie from usb storage device. I get to the point where I can select the movie and the tv starts playing the movie but only in a small box.

It is likely that the movie is recorded at a low resolution for display on a mobile device rather than a large TV. If you have ever watched an upscaled low res movie, you would probably want to obtain a higher resolution version instead.

HOW DO I USE THE USB PORT TO PLAY MOVIES

Some TV models have a USB port so that users could play videos and movies from USB on TV. You can try the following steps:

1. Connect your readable and writable USB drive to computer
2. Copy your movies to USB drive and then disconnect your USB drive from computer.
3. Connect the USB device to the Sony TV USB port. Turn on the connected USB device if necessary.
4. Press the HOME button on Sony remote controller to open the menu.
5. Enter the target USD drive.
6. Select the file you want to play back, and then press the play button to start playing movies on TV via USB drive.
It's quite easy to play movies from USB on smart TV devices.

I was wondering what format i need to use to be able to play movies that i have on my usb on my TV. Its a Sansui 39 inch LED.

Hi,
Based on the user manual for your TV, I don't believe you can play media from a USB device on your 39in model.
The USB port on the TV is used for the 'Time Shift' feature on your TV (which allows you to pause, play and rewind broadcast TV).
I do not believe your TV can play digital media without a device providing video output.
Hope that helps. http://www.sansuiproducts.com/images/manuals/SLED3900.pdf

Hi i have an acer aspire one....i want to play movie through TV

I would recommend you s-video. I also have an Acer Aspire and s-video is working perfectly. you have to change the second monitor's resolution on your PC to the display and frequency of the TV. The most common configuration is 800x600 display with a 60mhtz refresh rate (frequency), and send the image through the additional monitor (your TV).
