We haven't had this dishwasher very long and it worked perfectly fine, for a while. Now it doesn't seem to shoot water up out of the arms where it's supposed to. It runs completely through the cycle but doesn't do anything. The dishwasher only makes a weird humming noise while it's turned on. Not only is there no water coming out, but the arms don't move in the circular movement either. What could be wrong?

Catriver: The dishwasher model is gsd5920do1bb. I probably posted the original problem in the wrong place. Does a similar fix apply? Sorry about the confusion. Greg

all fill cycles on a dishwasher is timed. so at the end of the fill cycle the dishwasher may run. the first thing I would check is to make sure the water inlet valve is good. for this you will need a volt/ohm meter. you will want to make sure that there is 120v going to the valve. if there is you then would want to remove the wire connector on the valve and ohm it out. if you get a reading anywhere from maybe 450-650 the valve should be good and you will want to check for a blockage. good luck

SOURCE: motor not running?
If you remove the front panel at the bottom and look underneath, there is a motor staring at you. The motor has blades that look like wings of a fan. If you take a screw driver and try to rotate the blades, you will feel that they dont move freely. This is what someone said, the impeller (blades) are stuck. You need to keep rotating the blades until they get free rotational motion. I had the exact same problem and I was able to fix it this way. Hope it helps.
