I bought ge dishwasher 2 years ago. When I start the dishwasher, it makes noise, if I open the door, I do not see water. I dropped a few bucket of water into dishwasher and started the machine it does not make the same noise and all other cycles seems to be working fine. I checked the water valve and it seems to be fine.So It appears that the dishwasher won't fill with water. Any idea what that could be, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Re:
The water valve may look fine but the solenoid may not be opening to allow water in. You said that everything else works fine except no water supply to the dishwasher. This sounds like a bad soleniod valve. Check for continuity on the valve with an ohms meter after you start it. Be careful.

If the
water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there
is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What
is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch
must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the
motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be
good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn
around to inject with pressure. If so
the pump must be checked for clogging.
Mine has been doing the same thing for about 2 months now.. I tried Finnish brand diswasher cleaner, but to no avail. Try this:
1) Empty your dishwasher, then take out the lower rack.
2) Start a regular cycle. Wait until you hear the jets turning, then open the door. Make sure there is enough water in the bottom - It should be just UNDER the heating element.
3) If your dishwasher is getting enough water, Reset your washer and allow it to drain.
4) Go to the store and get a gallon jug of white vinegar. Start your dishwasher on a regular cycle.
5) Once you hear the jets turning, Open the door and add FOUR CUPS (liquid measure) of white vinegar to the water in the bottom. Let the wash cycle complete.
6) When the wash cycle drains, the rinse cycle will fill. Once the rinse cycle starts, add ANOTHER FOUR CUPS of white vinegar to the first rinse cycle.
7) Allow the first rinse cycle to drain. Let the second rinse cycle complete normally.
I know this sounds too good to be true, but it REALLY DID work for me, this evening as a matter of fact! I also bought some hard water/soap film detergent additive from the store. It was kind of expensive, but I'm using it for a while just in case.
I hope this helps. Like I said, I couldnt believe it when my dishes came out clear again! Also, I turned OFF the heated dry cycle, and just opened the door and pulled out the racks when it was done.
i think this is a simple answer;;your dishwasher has a piece of glass in the out pump or something else.remove and you will find it will be ok adriqan.;;;;
GE Triton dishwasher loud noise after draining water. We started to hear a sustained and loud noise after water is drained. This noise is not heard during washing and draining times. What is wrong? Thanks a lot!
there could be many solutions from not enough water in the dishwasher
to the piece on black backing in between the door and inner linning has warmed up and slide down restricting the soap door from opening
the lack of water could be from a defective water fill valve or a restriction in the drain line holdingf the drain valve open alowing water to escape
when the machine fills open the door see how much water is in it close the door wait 2 min open the door again if water went down the problem is arestrictioninthe drain valve (water should fill to touch the element in the bottom i hope this helps
The washer may be attempting to run dry. Many times on these washers, a person may open the washer and then go to another load. The washer gets stuck with a dry pump until the timer tells water fill valve to open. Easy test. Start on regular cycle ,slowly advance the timer. it will click until you here the fill start and water will fill until.....
That knocking noise is probably coming from your water line, and that happens when there is some kind of a ripple/wave effect when the water goes into your dishwasher (DW) thru the inlet/fill water valve. First turn your hot water valve off, underneath the sink coming from the wall and it usually is also going to your kitchen faucet. Then turn the electricity off by locating the breaker to the DW line and turning it off, or if it is plugged in an outlet under your sink, just unplug it. Then take the kick toe panel (panel with 2 or 4, 1/4" or philips screws) from the bottom of the dishwasher. You will then see the water hose, or could be a copper pipe, going into the valve (will have a selenoide, cylinder shape on top and have 2 wires plugged in to it). Unscrew the hose/pipe from the water valve and get a small wide bucket or pot and aim the hose/pipe to it. Slowly have someone open the water valve from under the sink while you hold it in the bucket/pot. If you hear the knocking again, you will need a plumber to check the pipes, hoses and water valve at your wall. If you don't here the knocking noise, just replace the dishwasher inlet/fill water valve part # 785330. http://www.repairclinic.com/0080.asp. Please post back.
